>realised I was playing [game] with FSR turned on by mistake
I cannot understate how terrible upscalers are, I turned it off and the visuals were instantly clearer

FSR is dogshit, I've been warning you people against it for years. The only reason people got misinformed enough to think it was acceptable is because of Youtube videos that used heavy compression to hide FSR's flaws. FSR only became usable with FSR4.

Ultra quality FSR is fine at 4K, DLSS is still better, though.

FSR is actually so bad that FSR quality is worse than DLSS ultra-performance. So it's not even so much based on how much info it gets from the base resolution, it's just that FSR is just doing it completely wrong from the core. It looks like a watercolor painting and all edges where aliasing would be turn into bright shimmering lines, which is ironically what a temporal solution like FSR is supposed to eliminate.
DLSS transformer model is actually light years ahead of FSR3. I can't comment on FSR4.
Not even a fanboy thing, I'm an AMD guy for CPUs, but they need to actually get competitive with their upscaler in this world of horribly running UE5 games.

This is an old video so it's even worse now. DLSS transformer model you wouldn't even be able to see the flaws behind YouTube compression, it would just look like the game running at full resolution. Only in motion do some foliage and distant objects smear a little with DLSS tranny model but there's no more full-screen blur when sitting still.

DLSS is better than any alternative we currently have. Don't tell you're one of those people who brags about "playing at native" with standard antialiasing on, not realizing your game both looks worse and runs worse than mine.. are you?

Native resolution or die. Stop hiring Jeets for devs and optimize your games for once so people don't need to use upscaling with 5090 on 4K. Fucking degen publishers, dev studios and Ngreedia. I will not upgrade from my 7900 XTX before I see a real positive change in this regard. I will also not buy any unoptimized game. My library is gigantic - more than 8TB of pre-2020 games between my Deck, PS5 and PC. These games will last me till I fucking die and I am in my mid 20s.

Reminder that a guy with a 9060XT, a GPU much weaker than yours, has access to much better image quality than you do simply because he has access to competent way of rendering (FSR4) and you don't.

9070xt is literally the 7900xtx with better power efficiency and FSR. that's it. You have to pay $700 if you can even get it for that just for a software upgrade. AMD get a free pass, if Nvidia released it there would have been riots on the internet.

Severe case of diminishing returns. Unless you're as low as 1080p, you're not really gaining much by going from Quality to native AA in terms of visuals but you're losing a lot of performance.

The visual difference is huge and not worth sacrifing image quality for.

The 5070 flopped hard. Even during a shortage, no one wanted them and they were piling high in microcenters. AMD does the same thing and everyone gobbles the 9070xt up

I agree with this. Everything was just so blurry even on ultra quality mode.
Recently upgraded to a 9800x3d and a 5070 ti running at 1440p and I feel no need to use upscalers when all they seem to do is impact my experience negatively.

FSR3 is literally just FSR2.2 but with a frame generation layer added on top lol. You might be referring to FSR4.

FSR1 is heavily misunderstood and underrated.

FSR1 was supposed to be DLSS1 competitor, but better in every way - faster, sharper, didn't require specific game implementation and could work with everything. But the problem is that FSR1 launched just few weeks after DLSS2 changed everything.

If your browser or >VLC used FSR1 for video upscaling by default, you would see a massive difference.

A lot of people say that FSR3 was a regression from FSR 2.2 in terms of temporal upscaling.

>The visual difference is huge
ehh not really, at least nobody measured it to be a huge difference
most of the benefit of dlss4/fsr4 is already achieved by just the mere activation of the algorithm and staying above 50% resolution scale, because it's not the pixel count that does most of the job but the algorithm. visually the quality difference between 70% and 100% render res is really small and not worth the performance loss
