Got to make everything sanitized and bland for mass consumption by the presumed "wider audiences" so that shareholders believe the product is going to had as much reach as possible. Corporations rushing to make fantasy safer and softer feels like just bad business though, looking at how the wider audiences keep flocking to dark fantasy IPs like Warhammer and morally grey mudcore like Game of Thrones (House of the Dragon is still very popular despite GoT fumbling it's ending). There really seems to be no real demand for that Disneyland fantasy even among the female and numale audiences.
>>715960396 I wonder if corporations are ever going to realize that making something intended to appeal to everyone just causes you to make something that doesn't appeal to anyone. Or that bending over backwards to appeal to an outside demographic will just alienate your core demographic while not attracting that new demographic.

>>715960025 (OP) When your setting comes to rely on a status quo but you also need to keep adding stuff, things will just keep getting more freakshit. Increasingly wacky races and classes join but never leave.
>>715961767 Man, I wish it was status quo. Just a series of low stakes adventures that ultimately doesn't change much.
Instead, every expansion is some supposed apocalyptic level event that ultimately doesn't change much, and the changes that do happen are just bullshit for cheap drama.
>>715961902 What are you implying with this, anon?

>>715961767 >>715961956 That is exactly how capeshit comics got to the point they have been in for decades already. Stakes creep is poison in long term.
>>715962403 Capeshit also has crossover shit where you can't just read one comic from the first issue to the last, you have to be reading a hundred comic series in parallel to know what the fuck is going on. It's bled its way into the movies now too. I was just a fan of Guardians of the Galaxy, but by the third movie they kept talking about a bunch of other bullshit happening in other movies and a bunch of major plot points happened off-screen like the protagonist's love interest dying.
