Been playing The Debasing Grounds for a while now. Its pretty interesting, and has some potential.

there's not much lore to get, it's just gensokyo is a place where youkai exist. 90% of the lore is just knowing what tengu or kappa are and that there's a shrine maiden whose job is stopping youkai who cause problems.
if you really want to learn more about the setting, then reading perfect memento in strict sense and bohemian archive in japanese red are the lore dumps you're after.
i'd also say read some manga. three fairies manga, forbidden scrollery, and wild and horned hermit are my recommendations.

erablue is decently fun so far
i find that it has the usual problem era games have though; the quality between characters is really hit/miss, especially for the outside-series characters. it's weird because the game has a bunch of AI pics made for characters as generic images and for outfits + sex, but a lot of these extra characters have only a handful of images or outright don't have any images at all.
a few of the granblue characters have an oddly low amount of pictures too, which is just baffling because they're using ai and this is like the one good thing that you should use ai art for.
