MMO's suck. They always have been meh but there was a time when it was novel and the fantasy of it all really worked.
But now they fucking suck really fucking bad.

I keep hearing that the PLAYERS want to have NO INTERECTION PLEASE NO FORCED CO OP PLEASE NO PUZZLES THAT REQUIRE SMOEONE TO HELP PLEASE to the point devs wont even put a locked port culis that needs to be opened by 2 players at the same time with levers because NO NOOOO DEVS PLEASE DONT MAKE ME INTERACT AND DO MULTIPLAYERRR.

It's really sad! Apperantly players just want to do single player or optionally 4 player content then show off their loot and mounts in the overworld?? THATS GAY AS FUCK when the content is always easy and at best is just really grindy. The intro area in any hack and slash game on the ps2 is more challenging than questing in any MMO, all of them are designed around the most slow retarded player. You basically cannot die and quests make you severely overleveled. Then everyone rushes to end game??? for what boss rushes? Oh so they will play co op for that then

It's a viscous cycle of en-shit-ification that's probably going to lead most of the big modern MMOs into their graves.

Every time I talk with the modern "MMO community", I'm reminded of how thoroughly shit it is. Like, I said that transmog is a terrible, Frankenstein system because either items in the game should be treated as real, physical objects with their own appearance, or if not, you should just be able to select your outfit in the character creator and just look how you want from the very beginning (if items are just going to be stats.) And they responded, basically, that cool sets should be locked away from most players so that you can show them off, but not on the basis of skill and dedication like with the old system. It should be locked away purely on the basis of player guides and fucking grinding. What a fucking cesspit of a community.

But, I still believe that there is a market out there for both the MMORPG as it was originally conceived (as a living world sandbox) and the original idea behind the "themepark" MMO that started with Everquest, which was essentially a big online D&D world.

The idea of an MMORPG being a fantasy world where people go on adventures together died when Blizzard started marketing WoW for NPC normies.
