I liked this one, gladiator arguably went a bit too far and made the gameplay a bit samey, but this one is still at a point where it's pretty fun. Zooming through levels mowing everything down and gradually progressing your weapons feels good.

I dunno what went wrong with insomniac. They were on a really good streak from spyro 1 til ratchet 4. 7 perfect games in 7 years, 1998 to 2005

everything afterwards has just been kinda bad. I have to imagine they lost key employees or something. Oh well, at least other people kept making good games, even if insomniac forgot how

I played the first game when I was a kid but I never got far because I was too much of a dumb little kid. Still got my PS2 and the game, I should play it some time.
