Sex in general is taboo in media because it can cause titillation despite not being real. You can kill 50000000000000000 people in a video game and it hurts no one and activates nothing regarding gratification from violence, whereas something as simple as (.)(.) is enough to start getting people horny. Even in other forms of media it is usually just a rather cheap way of either giving a female character trauma, or to make a male character come across as specifically evil, and rarely has narrative value beyond that since it is also usually treated an atrocity that just comes and goes without long term ramifications in the story.
