Arcade design extends into the home market. Castlevania 1 isn't a game made for arcades but nobody would deny that it has arcade design. The game isn't hard because it's trying to cheap you out of quarters but that the game gives you an actual challenge to master and overcome. Compared to a lot of modern game design which takes you hours and several dozen hours to complete without an ounce of difficulty, there is nothing to master.

The grift was that Stellar Blade was actually some kind of deep slash at the Left because it had a stripper as the protagonist. This element made the game somehow an important milestone in culture and must be supported and hailed as great because of that.
But the game didn't appeal to Mork, and even though he likes T&A, he didn't set aside his game design principles to praise it for the sake of the culture war. A game actually has to appeal to his sensibilities to gain his attention, which Stellar Blade did not.

I liked the early stuff I saw from him about 2D games like Contra and GnG, and I found his arcade design video to be quite interesting, if a bit pretentious. However, the more I watch videos about stuff I'm familiar with, like DMC and Vanquish, the more I think he tries too hard to pull a "how do you do my fellow action gamers" instead of actually putting in the work to understand the games he is "analyzing". I'm not going to mention the DMC3 video because that's the low hanging fruit, but in his Vanquish video he mentions things that are addressed while playing on Hard and GodHard. It's ironic that he calls people out for not giving Wanted: Dead a proper chance yet he fails into the same patterns. Any action game worth its salt needs to be played and replayed for you to create a proper assessment; a one-and-done playthrough is not enough and you shouldn't be taken seriously if you do.

Make or break for me is when he makes a vid on DaS2. This is THE most deeply analyzed dark souls because there is SO much debate over it that every aspect has been under the microscope and whether you like it or hate it comes down to personal taste. If he doesn't give it the deep dive it deserves and just does the "not like muh demon's souls not like muh dark souls 1" then his opinion on these games is worthless.
He didn't even seem to touch the DaS1 DLC which leads me to believe he won't play DaS2's which is criminal since it's the best part of the game and perhaps peak Dark Souls depending on who you ask. He will also likely not touch the vanilla vs SotFS debate.
AND, most importantly, he has never said a word about multiplayer which is one of the features that made dark souls stand out. Invasions were such a cool aspect of these games that I find go underappreciated by 1-playthrough andys that don't really understand the games but love to watch youtube videos about them.

Sekiro maybe, but DS1 aged like milk in some areas. Slug pacing, jankier hitboxes than DS3’s netcode, and half the game feels like a beta build. Not saying it's bad, but if that’s the peak for you, I’m guessing you bounced off the rest pretty fast. At least Bloodborne had speed and identity. Elden Ring’s world makes Lordran feel like a hallway too.
