Doesn't it use the PAL roms for some reason so everything runs at 50fps instead of 60?

I have one and not really, unless you're a collectorfag or have plans on softmodding it to be an emulation device.

I regret not getting one for $20, because the shell is nice looking. As an actual game playing device it's shit. You can get chink handheld with BT, HDMI out and much better compatibility for about the same price, of not less.

You can just emulate them, but if you want to pick it up then yeah, those are some good games.

I bought one on clearance for $10. It’s worth that. I displayed it next to other tiny retro consoles for a while but I’ve put them all away in storage. I tried it once and the emulation was garbage

Do you want an easily hackable mini console that comes with 2 USB PS1 D-PAD replica controllers?

It becomes a much better thing when you pair two controllers with analog sticks to it and you hack it and load it with emulators and roms of PS1 games and earlier.

You can do some wacky shit with it like connect it to the internet and do netplay if you have a usb wireless adapter.

Basically, the thing revolves around doing things your pc can do better, but in a neat form factor. I got mine for $15 new at Best Buy years ago when no one bought them, they seem to be a bit more now but hey if you want one for the novelty then go for it.

The emulator's functional, but not great
It's easy to modify
If you like the aesthetics of the PS1, the shell looks excellent
The controllers are solid USB controllers, despite not having joysticks

You can install a better emulator onto it that runs games better and supports external drives. Makes it a good value when found cheap.

I don't understand why they would stop manufacturing all of these, it's such an easy printer for them. Just keep selling bundles of old games as time goes on until you have a sizeable collection on them. Most adults don't care enough about old games to emulate them on a PC but would replay them if it was just hooking up something to a TV and pressing the power button. That's the way I feel about these old games.

Not in the slightest. The jewtendo shit was "kinda" with it due to the controllers, but that's it. The PSX mini had dogshit controllers.

I like the controllers though they're a tad smaller than OG. Paying $100? I don't know, but I grabbed mine for $40 and paid another $20 or so for a usb/otg cable to "hack" it.

I like it but don't use it as often as I'd imagined, I usually pick up my psp instead to play ps1 games.

I bought this thing just to have the two controllers for emulation, then injected my own roms onto the PS1 itself.

I have it. I bought it literally when it just came out. I used it for a month and didn't touch it since.
It's shit
As a physical device it's good, sure. It's quality made, smoll cute PS1 shell with good OG gamepads (which are usb and you can actually connect them to PC and use as simple generic gamepads, but without sticks which is a downside)
But as a gaming device it's pure shit. You will have to softmod it and download games that you actually like. And the hardware is pretty weak too

Got one cuz I love the PS1 but I used only once just to see how bad it really was, and it was beyond bad, like this anon>>715980196 said the games use the PAL versions for whatever fucking reason, the controllers are pretty good but they lack analog meaning not Ape Escape, and most importantly the game selection is awful, lacking tons of classic PS games, two of them got my attention the most Mr. Driller and Rainbow Six, like nobody thinks PS and they think of those games and they show how much Sony cared about this shit.
You can connect a keyboard press the good 'ol reliable ESC while on a game and access the directory, there you can change the games from PAL to NTCS and if my memory serve me right you can even connect a PS4 controller, problem is that if you are going to do all this shit may as well emulate, I was emulating PS1 games back in the mid 2000s using fucking emurayden.
I give it a "it looks nice in my desk/10"

okay, how about: It uses PAL ROMs for some reason, which while it is a better video standard in many ways, a fatal flaw is that sadly it used to be common practice in the gaming industry to just slow the games down in order to meet the 50hz requirement rather than properly optimize the games to run at full speed in those regions. As a result, many of the games bundled with the PlayStation classic bare this flaw, when they could have just used the full-speed NTSC versions. Better?
