The chase for realistic visual fidelity comes at the expense of artistic expression and control in ALL cases. Games which reach for realism are attempting to replace creatives and artists with technology to build a flowchart development process that can employ AI(Actually Indians) and cut any creative human beings out of the picture. They also fail to cross the uncanny valley in all cases
