He's not a grifter and he's correct technically and in general. The fact that nvRTX UE5 performs so well compared to regular UE5 and so do other forks, proves that Epic is incompetent and is gimping the engine, probably not on purpose. Then you combine shitty engine with shitty devs and you get dogshit performance. Games can look and run amazing on UE5 but not only are competent devs required but they also need to fork that shit to fix many Epicisms. These devs are already internally doing what TT is talking about.
Let's say TT goes ahead with his plan and it succeeds. It won't magically allow shit devs to make well optimized games but it'll at least lower the bar for entry for any competent and performance focused devs. You will still see terrible UE5 games but on average, especially for AA, things will look better.
What sucks the most here is that if Fortnite never existed, Epic would go under and Unreal Engine would be shelved and the IP sold. The problem would then fix itself most likely.
So in a way, Fortnite ruined the vidya industry. If Fortnite never existed, we'd likely have massively better performance across the board and less shit games.
