A superhero eating or showering is indeed pointless, they are almost always assimilated into society, have funds, backing, the means to do so anyway. In this case though, MULEs living out in the world which has been ravaged by the death stranding and timefall, what they eat is fairly pertinent. I assume we can just say they steal food as well as eat cryptobiotes.
