I only played F2P as a kid in 2006-2010.
Played Members in OSRS for the first time and I was disappointed by the experience. I didn't hate it, but I don't think it's worth a sub. I hate the feeling of being on a timer with my playtime.

If you just want levels, there's an efficient quest guide that is super simple to follow and will put you in a good early game spot but IMO that ruins the fun of the game. If you've never played RuneScape, just try and do all the F2P quests on your own, try to avoid using guides if you can. I think that will give you the best experience. You only really need help (i..e another player has to do something) with two quests (Knight's Sword, Shield of Arrav).

Jagex doesnt put enough effort into the game to warrant having the same sub price as WoW, neither does WoW for that matter.

During the actual golden age of Runescape they were averaging close to two new quests per month. your character's base stats matter way way way way more than even endgame gear. having 99 str/def/atk and a rune scimitar is more damage than having shitter stats but endgame gear. it's also why potions and prayer are so good, they act as effective boosts to your base stats and are even more valuable the higher they are.

99 def and 99 hp means even naked you can ignore most enemies outside endgame shit, and honestly endgame magic gear is not much different than being naked against many damage types since it's just cloth robes

I was able to get 2 enh seeds and 6 armour seeds at 375kc on my uim but it was a grind that I genuinely did not enjoy. At around 130kc I started to get kills consistently as it was my first acc ever doing cg on and was learning. What kept me going was the fact that I was making good gp from the loot that I was getting that I'll be able to use to lvl up construction and fletching later on.

Definitely thankful for being lucky because I've hear of ppl going 2k+ kc dry for a single enh weapon seed. Would totally want to quit if that happened to me.

It was worth in the end though because corrupt bowfa (unlimited charges) and full crystal armour is sick. Salad blade is a better slash weapon than whip also. Definitely a massive upgrade for the acc.

For items when i'm skilling or doing safe content I deathbank at hespori for inv space, for anything wilderness related I make a deathpile.

Also you can store some items at your house and at stash units.

I don’t hate the GE but it definitely changed how the entire game works and shook up a bunch of things so I can see why some people don’t like it. Marketing your shit after grinding used to be a skill in its own and now that you can just dump everything on the GE and instantly convert it into gold it’s basically reinforced the whole gp/hr gameplay loop.
It took away a lot of self sufficiency too. There’s no real point in cooking your own food or making your own potions with the associated skills since it’s quicker, easier and even cheaper to just buy the finished products at the GE. This is probably why they ended up adding ironman mode, but that’s more of an extreme end compared to just not using GE.

trade used to be something that typically required two (or more) individuals to actively interact with another human being to get what they wanted. as a buyer you had to

>go to a trade world
>go to the correct district in a trade world
>find someone who was selling what you wanted
>determine whether you were or weren't getting ripped off
>trade them
and in the seller's case, you needed to determine whether what you were selling would even sell within a realistic time-frame. trading was an investment of your time that required you to be physically present and interact with other players, and it was still advantageous to do.

the GE automated the trade process and allowed people to buy and sell whatever they want, whenever they want. it's too complicated to get into, but the tl;dr is that it basically reduces literally EVERYTHING in the game into a function of GP to XP. why do X training method as a normal account when it's simply faster to buy 1,000 of X item and bankstand the skill for profit? why collect your own resources when it's faster to go bossing (which already drops economy-wrecking quantities of raw resources), sell the drops, and use the GP to buy resources? etc.
