I loved MGS3 back in the day but this feels like an extremely pointless remake as its not actually a new game like Resident Evil Remakes. Its more like the Ocarina of Time Remake on 3DS or the Metroid Prime Remaster on Switch. Like its still the same basic game you are playing again. You aren't really going to get a new experience like you would playing the Resident Evil Remakes or the Silent Hill 2 Remake or the Final Fantasy 7 Remakes.

all of the assets are new, so it's a remake. it might be 1:1 but zero assets are remastered so it's not a remaster. it still has loading screens because of the abstraction of Snake's mission traversal. He is not going area to area. He's traveling a whole gigantic area and it can take minutes/hours to get from one screen to the next. that's why the areas don't line up geographically, because he's travelling way more than we see

If storage is so cheap they should slap the game into a mini SSD and give it to me when I buy the game. Leave a little extra space for updates and save files. Then maybe I can have some kind of SSD reader attached to my PC that lets me plug the game SSD into a slot to play it. And sometimes it'll get dusty and you have to blow in it.

Yeah, smaller download sizes are nice, but unless you're on dial-up in 2025 for some reason, you're just shifting the time cost to your CPU during loading or runtime. And some games are so poorly optimized they practically choke on their own decompression routines. That's why even with NVMe drives, load times feel like PS2 era sometimes.
