The Xbox 360 is actually pretty good at driving a CRT TV.
Everything look anti-aliased beautifully, it has a very good deflicker filter, and games like VF5 look great.
However developers started to aim at bigger screens so in these games things might be too small.

Before the TV HDR, games already had HDR internally, since the Half life 2 or so.
pixels are represented by floating point values from 0 to 1 and you define the hell that means.
In theory HDR tvs would be able to map that well and all that, but in reality...
