He was mostly an arcade guy and he knew his limits, with most of his main work being in the arcades. During the Famicom era he was actually training up people to be the next generation and co-directing with them, such as his collaborations with Takashi Tezuka so that he could go on later and direct games himself. During the FC, SFC, and N64 era, he was always co-directing, which means he wasn't so much in the driver's seat as you'd think.
