That's the best of the NES Mega Man boxarts though, aside from 6 which actually looks close to source material. The rest is BBAMM or some weird Elf looking guy in blue.
>>716020717 (OP) this one isnt that bad. Now Mystery of the Druids...Might be an example of the opposite happening, a mediocre game getting amazing box art.
>>716021696 yeah they took one look at his anime face here and said "Oh no! Japan face! we have to fix that! Just throw some puddy on there and...THERE! Much better!"
>>716021876 I just barely not old enough to remember this, but people older than me said that Nintendo's pixel box art for the early releases was considered a good thing back in the day because it was a sign of good faith on their part, like saying "this is what our game looks like, not a painting."
>>716022209 Only the launch-era NES games, primarily Nintendo's own, did that. Everyone else moved onto illustrations pretty quick for the front of the box.
The boxes for the time were plenty big enough to have multiple screenshots on the backside.
>>716022786 Well it sure ain't Viggo. It's not that terrible since you do basically wander around on a horse a lot in the original game, but it is a bit lazy.
