ITT amazing games with horrific box art

That's the best of the NES Mega Man boxarts though, aside from 6 which actually looks close to source material. The rest is BBAMM or some weird Elf looking guy in blue.

this one isnt that bad. Now Mystery of the Druids...Might be an example of the opposite happening, a mediocre game getting amazing box art.

PAL MM5 looks fine
It's funny because literally the only difference on the US cover is that Megaman has the weird elf guy face

Did 3D CGI ever look good on game covers? I feel like photomanips are preferable.

I just barely not old enough to remember this, but people older than me said that Nintendo's pixel box art for the early releases was considered a good thing back in the day because it was a sign of good faith on their part, like saying "this is what our game looks like, not a painting."

Only the launch-era NES games, primarily Nintendo's own, did that. Everyone else moved onto illustrations pretty quick for the front of the box.

The boxes for the time were plenty big enough to have multiple screenshots on the backside.

Scuffed Elijah Wood?

Well it sure ain't Viggo.
It's not that terrible since you do basically wander around on a horse a lot in the original game, but it is a bit lazy.

I wouldn't call Ghost Lion amazing per se, but it does some ambitious things for an NES RPG
that box art though...

Mountain Blade has the weakest game art and the strongest gameplay
