I was constantly told that the plot contrivances and blatant plot holes in endwalker were actually not contrivances or holes at all, and that the overall quality of the entire expansion was actually good.
Now that we're finally seeing just how far CBU3 can fall, everyone now shits on EW

(which died already), the newest AR series is more the same and the lv100 dungeons are more the same as well, now we have to face a possibility that content patches can take 6+ months to be deployed, but the content either doesn't change or fucking shrinks? Fuck off.

This is actually true though. They came up with an origin/reason for most of the lore started in 1.0/ARR and it was "Ancients"

I like Dawntrail.

The story was meh at first but it's gotten better recently.
I like the jobs I play.
I like the dungeons.
I like the trials, I like the extremes.
I like the normal raids, I like savage.
I like the first Alliance Raid
I liked FRU.
I liked CAR.
I like Cosmic Exploration.
I enjoyed Occult Crescent for the most part but there are some glaring flaws that need to be addressed.
And I'm looking for what 7.3 brings.

New SMN is also really popular. MNK rework too made the job more liked. VPR is one of the most popular melee jobs right now

The reworks are unironically good

XIV is often praised simply because it was improved at the right time (the transition from 1.0 to ARR) and was one of the few mmorpgs with a strong focus on story. These aspects, along with the cult-like behavior of the community, created a reputation that does not reflect reality. Similarly the narrative that the community is especially kind and positive "xD" persisted for a long time, even though it is in truth one of the most toxic, witch hunting and hostile communities in the entire mmo genre lmao

it is also important not to forget how critics were systematically silenced by the community in a manner reminiscent of gestapo tactics all the way through to Endwalker.

Imho xiv is a prime example of how a community can slide into authoritarian thinking, ignore reality and put a game and its devs on a near godlike pedestal.
