“evil” characters who were secretly the good guy

SH2 is so shit those silly Japs expect me to care about a bunch of pathetic dumb losers with no charisma.
Laura is the only good character in the game and she's just a child that trolls James.

should you be allowed to kill someone because of the way they look at you?

>secretly the good guy
>pathetic fat fuck loser who couldn't even kill his bully so he killed a dog instead and ran away from home like a pussy, then laughed about killing the dog like he had some pussy form of power because of it
Eddie has zero redeeming qualities

>Eddie has zero redeeming qualities

He's nice to Laura. Implied that the town is tormenting him and he snaps. He could have been redeemed otherwise.

I only played the first last of us game and found it average, but weren't the bad guys really good because they wanted to find a cure? Shouldn't their plan have just been to breed ellie as many times as possible for like 30 years so she passed along here immunity genes? Or is that a very obvious plot hole?

The had a good intention but the execution was so incredibly retarded that might as well be the delusions of a madman, just imagine killing the only inmune host of a fungus with 100% deathrate just because they MIGHT mamage to get a cure out of it, even if you think killing her is the proper course of action, you'd still run every possible test you can before sending her to the surgeon

It’s funny how they tried to “redeem” him in the sequel by having him help a zebra that one time and feeling somewhat bad about dissecting a little kid. Also Abby said that she would be totally cool with it if someone were to do the same thing to her, so that also fully justifies his actions

Laura interacts with him one time, and she calls him a gutless fatso and he gets indignant at her for it. He's "nice" to her in that he doesn't instantly attack her for insulting him, same as his first interactions with James. Eddie's resentment build up through repeat interactions

The Fireflies weren't the antagonists until the very end, they were completely incompetent. The first time you see them they're bombing a security checkpoint and then getting massacred by the feds, and every subsequent time you see them after that it's the aftermath of some horrific slaughter where they were nearly all killed and had to flee further west

Him being in the game is so odd. I remember the debate about removing him from the Remake. And honestly, I'm still in the camp that he should be optional.

>It has no significance to James journey
>It's a bizarre detour from the main plot, and not in a Lynch way, more like S2 nadine way

Optional content like Doge ending

Silent Hill is a town that kills you. Eddie and Angela's role in the story is to show the same thing: a lot of people who go to the town will inevitably have their weaknesses exploited, get swallowed up by despair, and die. It's plain weird you'd say Eddie is pointless but not mention Angela at all.

>Laura interacts with him one time
according to the wiki
>Laura somehow finds her way to Silent Hill, having apparently ran away from the orphanage or hospital she was staying at. It is implied Eddie helped her travel to Silent Hill, whom she met by chance on the way to Silent Hill. In the introduction video, Eddie is seen sitting beside a van holding a large map with his finger pointed at it. Laura then gives him a playful kick. It is confirmed by the Book of Lost Memories that the pair crossed paths with one another on the way to Silent Hill and then traveled there together.

i love eddies inclusion honestly. i think he, in contrast with the other characters, demonstrate how people react differently to trauma
angela took out her trauma on herself. she convinced herself that she deserved her suffering and killed herself
eddie gave in to his trauma, becoming a monster and taking out his feelings on everyone around him until he got himself killed
the way james reacts to what burdens him depends on the ending, but i like how angela and eddie had opposite reactions to how silent hill was tormenting them

I don't ever really think about Eddie much when remembering SH2. Not that the game was always subtle but Eddie felt too silly and over the top to be taken seriously I guess. Too exaggerated to really be believable with some immersion into the story.
