Yes the monetization was particularly awful in kf2, but the game did get updates for many years. The monetization in kf3 seems far less bad, only being cosmetic, no weapons or characters, a battle pass that doesn't expire where you get currency to buy the next one. You can find many more or less legitimate things to complain about in kf3, but the monetization is objectively better than the prior games.

The game had much bigger issues earlier this year and I'm glad they focused on that instead of a cosmetic change like skins.
The other part is the special abilities, which can be used once per round and last for a couple of seconds. The rest of the time your shooting guns like you always have. All perks can use all the guns. A hero shooter focuses on special abilities and unique weapons.
So no, I don't consider it a hero shooter.

Sorry, but the ZEDs actually spawning off map in fixed locations and slowly coming at players with the ability to focous on holdout zones is what I liked about.
2's spawning agent can just plop a horde of clots behind you the second you look away and is largely intended to train ZEDs around the map via sprint then popping shots into the hoard while your stamina recovers before sprinting again. The way class weapons worked and scaled in 2 also made it fairly pointless to ever go off class for any loadout, and made the "fuck your ninja here's a generalist the Survivalist" class feel worthless.

Modern Tripwire is cancer and bloated with microtransactions and the unique 'British' slaughterhouse setting has been entirely erased and replaced by generic, futuristic RGB keyboard maps.

Early access KF2 was the last time this series was any good. I could forgive moving the setting onto France because people simply modded the old maps back into the game. The UI, animations and gameplay was improved, then they fucked it up further every subsequent update until it became gacha in all but name. They're not seeing a penny from me if that's the route they intend to travel down.

Me and bros grabbed KF2 for two bucks on previous sale. We all refunded it before the 2 hours mark, it was that bad. How it looks like a shitty neon christmas tree, how guns feel (like shit), how maps feel (like a shitty neon christmas tree smeared in vaseline), how claustrophobic they are when there's shitload of enemies, how zeds spawn around every corner and every box and on top of you, how classes look, the godawful whedonspeak chatter, five gorillions of quintillions of dlcs, holy shit, I hated every single moment of it. What is supposed to be the selling point of KF3?
I played during the stress test and it doesn't look visually impressive, the levels looks same as KF2. Apart from the enemy redesign you could tell me this was a modded KF2 map and I would've believed it.

For a second I got kind of excited to see the ninja had a grappling hook and I thought maybe the levels had more verticality now but it was just a special AOE attack. I really don't see how anyone would wanna pay to swap to KF3
