I've gotten a few younger cousins to watch the movies and getting it started is hard but if you can wrangle them long enough to get to the first battle scene in the intro they're usually into by that point.

I remember when Conquest was being prepared for release, I imagined scenes from the game, like the orc invasion of Imladris, where we are woken up in the middle of the night by scouts, and we, playing for example as Arwen, take that cool elven two-handed sword from the prologue to the first film, and retake our home to epic music.

I watched the movies for the first time a few months ago. They weren't very good but I can probably only say that because I'm already privy to the jew's tricks.

The LOTR books are weak and don't hold up. The Hobbit is a masterpiece, even Children of Hurin is very kino, but LOTR is boring and constantly undercuts its own stakes with side shit like Tom Bombadil or the niggers who live in the mountains in Gondor.

Jackson's films are so much better, largely because of Alan Lee and John Howe working so closely with him.

I think it was meant to be this kind of thing where you can put yourself in gollum's shoes and take for granted that being schizo + the lingering uncertainty could push him towards betraying the hobbits, but the only acknowledgement from the two being

from sam, it came off as kind of ham fisted.
Also the way Frodo turns evil at the end, and the only thing that makes the film end the way it does is gollum going schizo accidentallying the ring into the volcano seemed lame for two reasons, first because no one seems to acknowledge that frodo had ONE job and he fucked it up, secondly because with the ring being a literal deus ex machina it seemed odd that gollum would accidentally it into the volcano like that.
Aragorn did literally nothing wrong.

frodo was barely alive enough by that point because the ring was killing his spirit entirely and the only thing he could think about was his mission
and sam just never trusted gollum in the first place, still especially didnt trust him, and really only kept him along as a guide and because frodo wanted him

LOTR lore is kinda boring. There’s only like 5 Wizards in the entire setting so you cannot play as a spellcaster.

The whole trick to the ring is that nobody can willingly destroy it because of its mind corrupting powers. Frodo failed were Isildur failed, and Gollum only destroyed it because he did it on accident.
I think some later bullshit also claims it was an act of divine intervention and god made gollum fall in.

Most Tolkienites are fine with it, look at how much reddit and other places like brown elves and singing sheboon dwarves in Rings of Power. i liked conquest but it was a bit disappointing as it was largely marketed as 'star wars: battlefront but for LotR' but it ended up being less of a battlefield sandbox and much more objective driven, which was not what I was hoping for. i wish they'd give it another crack though, feels like there is potential there (or just remaster the RotK movie game already)

I think the ending is great. the point of the ring is that it corrupts you into keeping it from harm, which frodo was quite good at resisting, and allowed him to bring it all the way from the shire to the edge of mount doom. Still, the ring is just too powerful, and did with him the same as with Isildur. The irony comes when the very power that protects the ring makes it fall into the lava by making gollum and frodo fight, so in the end it's evil destroying itself, and divine providence helping the good guys when they struggle the most.

Also gollum being crucial for the ending was foreshadowed by gandalf when he advises Frodo to have pity on him and not kill him "for not even the wisest can see all ends".
