What even is classified as a soulslike? The term gets thrown around so loosely. I've seen people say games like Hollow Knight and Monster Hunter are Souls Likes, but their design philosophies are completely different. People will look at any game that has a dodge roll and stamina bar and call it one. I think what's happening is that a lot of games are incorporating elements from these types of games, but the elements themselves don't make it a souls-like

A Soulslike is a hack n slash action RPG with a big emphasis on boss battles and difficulty. It usually has a bonfire-inspired checkpoint system, an estus-inspired healing system, and a stamina meter

Utterly wrong. The only complaint i ever saw was earthen peak/iron keep elevator nonsense, and that a lot of bosses were just big knights, which at the time everyone agreed was not such a big issue when the rest of the game was fantastic.

DeS, DS are peak soulslike because they've presented the design pattern without turning into rollslop with anime-over-the-top bosses
BB and Sekiro are ok because they step in different directions

Demon's and DS are good.
Nioh is basically Ninja Gaiden ARPG.
Sekiro is a Tenchu clone. Aka bad.

3d action-RPG game with stamina management (stamina is used for attacks and advanced movement, regenerates slowly), where numeric elements (stats of player character in particular) could be fully ignored through invulnerability roll mechanics (uses stamina, invulnerability applies only during a part of the entire animation), while at least some action-requiring mechanics could be ignored through the usage of aforementioned character stats, and where exist such things as exploration, regular enemies, boss enemies, equipment (that affects character stats and available attacks), made after Demon Souls game as an attempt to provide similar experience or being a part of Souls series game.

DS2 belongs in garbage. Lies of P is a mid clone of the two middest games.

Dark Souls 1 was the worst offender. They didn't know what they were doing at the time. Their games have improved from a mechanical standpoint with every new release. The only reason to play Dark Souls 1 when all their newer games exist is for nostalgia purposes only
