Once the solve the issues of multiplayer gaming and anti-cheats, there will be literally NO reason to stay on Windows.

I finished Atomic Heart's third DLC and waiting for the 4th one. I tried Super Mario Wonders but it kinda sucks or it's just not for me. Other than these, Blue Archive and OW2. Might start something new tomorrow.

linux gaming is too dependent on steam
>>716051158
never ever because anticheat doesn't work on linux with how easy it is to use fakeroot and hide processes. games that have anticheat but allow linux are basically allowing anyone who uses linux to cheat, which is why most will eventually blacklist it.

>linux gaming is too dependent on steam
No more then Windows. Steam is just using Wine to run games, and there is nothing to prevent you from just running games with Wine outside of Steam. About half of the games on my PC are not in Steam at all.
Did you mean to say that that Linux gaming is dependent on Valve? Since even then, Proton is not that much tech from Valve themselves, its mostly just pre-packaging in tech that was from other project with a hand full of extra Valve packages. Even then, its all open source, its not like their Linux contributions don't go up steam.

Hope you realize that its only a handful of multiplayer games that don't work on Linux, the vast majority work fine.

I didn't say Windows anti-cheat is perfect. But if it is imperfect then it isn't a surprise that there are lot of cheaters given a game with a sufficiently large userbase. If they allowed Linux there would be even more.

You don't need Steam to use Proton. You can use Proton with other tools like Lutris, Heroic games launcher (for GoG, EGS), or even just standalone. Normal Wine is also usable.

>>716054330
Cheat software is made for Windows in the first place and that probably won't change unless Linux gets a massive userbase. Getting cheat software to work on Linux is difficult.

There is nothing to solve. Enabling compatibility is trivial on the side of the developer, they just don't do it.
Nearly all Linux incompatibilities stem from deliberate malice on part of major corporations, not any kind of progress that needs to be achieved by the Linux community.
>>716054330
The people who cheat are a minority who are already willing to fuck around to get shit to work. If you allow Linux, the amount of cheaters will be practically identical.

While I don't doubt the possibility, currently the infrastructure to develop cheats on Linux doesn't exist and will probably never exist so long as developing cheats on Windows is so much easier with a larger userbase.

you can also just bypass it if you want to use mods and seamless as well
also mods kinda just work on Linux with EAC on anyhow...

I wanted to play the ai somnium game, but it looks like amd can't do nothing right anymore, since every time you enter a somnium it looks glitched out and will start losing frames until it stops working, as per protondb it should work fine.
So I'm playing on an m4 max macbook in which it runs just fine except for the window size and shit, looks like the game doesn't properly support the screen shape on macbooks.

Not really, but it's a decent start if you only want to play video games. Because it just works. As much as Linux can just work.
