The funny thing is that, all of the staff that made the original Tsukihime were also involved in the Remake. Both pics were drawn by the same artist, Takashi Takeuchi. It's just that it's a 20 years difference. I do agree the some of the designs are worse than the original, like Ceil is just blue Mash

Also Nasu and Takeuchi have been wanting to remake Tsukihime for the past 20 years. It was inevitable the remake to have different assets, and they didn't want to present Tsukihime in its original form because it was outdated as shit even when FSN got released.

For every remake a new game is never made and we are stuck in this Marvel/DC scenario where characters reappear infinitely, never being layed to rest and therfore never making space for new characters.

I don't mind remakes as long as devs don't try to delist/burry the original games.
As long as the remake doesn't deviate too much for the original and changes things for the worse, I see it as two cakes. It's only bad if remake acts a replacement for the original despite being worse, or it's because devs don't want to risk on making new game so they remake an already good and successful game

I do like the PS3 remake of Umineko, where it all it did is add new game sprites and background, and full voice acting. The story, music and the character designs are still the same.

Takeuchi is an artist, and every artist always cringes so hard at their old work.
If you compare Tsukihime to FSN, Tsukihime has worse visuals, CGs, music and it even lack some basic technical features like telling you at what point of the story you have saved.

I liked Tsuki R. I stil prefer the original though. The remake has kinda meh redesigns and you can tell Nasu tried to up the stakes to appeal to Fateniggers.
I agree with the general sentiment though. I've had remake fatigue since the Resident Evil 3 remake, especially since that one was legit worse than the original.

I do think mind remakes as long as it is clear. A remake is a new game, and can and should play differently.

One of the biggest remakes, Resident Evil 2, is clearly not the 1998 original. Goldeneye was remade on Wii, as a Call of Duty like, I thought it was pretty good. Nice retelling of the story in the era of smartphones really fun to play.

But what I don't like is what I like to call "sneakmakes", that try to present themselves as a "version" of an older game. Two big examples would be Dead Space and Persona 3 Reload. There is a not insignificant amount of people who just assume by playing these they have played "Persona 3" and "Dead Space". But they haven't, not at all.

Tamura draws Cotton's pupils in a really odd shape now, I think he started drawing them that way since 2012 or somewhere around the 6th gen. I still enjoy his art and I'm happy he still does work for the series even if it's mainly just cover and promotional art. Cotton's other modern designs are a lot more standardized.
