Hey, /v/, I've got a question for you.

I run a small YT channel (wait, don't close the tab) and would love to pick your brain about some games I should review.
I focus on niche games that deserve the spotlight, I already did INFRA, Funger, EDF, LISA, Elin, Black Souls and LobCorp, amongst other things.

I am thinking of doing Talos Principle or Felvidek next, but maybe I am missing something.

Sorry for the long prelude, here's my actual question
TL;DR: what games you'd love to watch a review of? Pic unrelated but holy shit am I old

Penny for your thoughts, anon. Should I go full spoilers-in critique like Noah Caldwell Gervais, or should be more like a fun pre-show of the actual game and all the routes you potentially can explore? Which is more watchable, in your opinion?

Definitely not a plug, choose a game you want to watch and go in for like 1-2 minutes tops, you'll get the idea, I am sure. Just don't pick INFRA or LISA, I use my serious voice there, didn't land well with the audience.

I can't place your accent, are you Eastern European?
As for recommendations, I feel like it'd behoove you to play games you're passionate about. A few good recommendations I have are Pyre, Thronebreaker, Fight Knight (star this one, iirc it was also made by a channer), Flyknight, Bomb Rush Cyberfunk and Staffer Case. Felvidek is also a good option, but it's kinda short and kinda mid imo

Russian, nailed it. It's actually not that bad in motherland, even though everyone hates us.
I've got a library of ideas, care to see it? I wonder if I can post the entire list without breaking the character limit.
Now, since I have you, would you consider watching a game review that PROVIDES spoiler segment that explains the story? (I did that with Black Souls and LobCorp) Or do you want to watch the review BEFORE you play the game yourself and, therefore, would rather not watch any spoiler-heavy material?

>care to see it?
Hell yeah, give it a shot
>spoiler or spoiler free?
I think that's something only you can answer, and only after you've defined your audience. If the point of your reviews is to inform the viewer on if they should play the game or not, then you'll most likely want to keep it spoiler free so they can have an optimal experience of going in mostly blind. If you want to focus more on the entertainment aspect, then it'd be nice to have that as a segment.
Personally I rarely touch reviews of games I'm interested in playing for fear of spoilers, and instead will watch reviews of games I've already played to see what people liked/disliked about them. Then again, the obvious answer is to avoid spoilers because it's an informative review, right?

Wow, what a great channel. I started my own this year, so I can appreciate the amount of work you have put into it. In the games you could review. I saw you did sunless sea, so you could do sky, or its more unknown cousin, House of Many Doors.

Thanks, bro, y-you too. No joke, I like your suggestions too.
I did VTMB already, this is a bigger, badder version of VTMB review, I intend to do a full retrospective, probably will include VTM Redemption too, for good measure.
Listen to this, I intend on making longform reviews that would be a lot longer than what I do now. It will be a full in-depth spoiler-heavy discussion, kinda like what I made for Enderal or Black Souls or LobCorp. It's another list, I am sorry to do this to you, but if you want, I can give you my list of "Extremely long reviews that Vlade probably will do like 3 of them in a year because it takes a lot of work to do them", care to see what I'm packing?
>>716080151
Shit, I totally forgot about Skies, can you believe it? I'll add it on the list pronto. House of Many Doors, like Cultist Simulator is hard to do, but what the hell, I'll play it and I shall see if I vibe with it or not. Good solve, anon.

Hello, not that anon, lovely to have you here, as you asked, here are my thoughts: I'd say that this game more derivative than Sunless Sea was, plus you can (although you can do that in SS too) savescum to reroll chance encounters, the game itself is relying on text HEAVILY.

I'll go on a tangent for a hot sec: there's this game called Roadwarden, it's, in every way, amazing, BUUUUUUUT it's 99% text. Now, how the fuck do I review that? Do I make like a Reading Rainbow, and read all that shit aloud? Meh, difficult to replicate that feeling of sweeping grandeur, wouldn't you say?
Also, it's buggy, from what I've read.
Exploration is atmospheric but somewhat tedious, there's also an issue with procedurally generated rooms, etc etc

That pretty much sums up my thoughts about HoMD.
Bottom line: play Roadwarden

I have played Roadwarden and HoMD is definitely more gameplay-focused than that, which is why I asked after seeing it on your list. Reviewing roadwarden would be hard. If I did it I would focus on the interaction between your stats and equipment and the effect these things have on events and encounters.

Duly noted. I wish I can do Roadwarden and HoMD justice, but I need better writing. I am trying, mind you, but it's hard, writing about shit you love. Some of the things you enjoy don't translate well into writing. I am constantly improving my skills, just recently I signed up for a prose writing classes, will be shipping them scripts like bam-bam-bam. In all seriousness, I hope to get to the "games with superb writing" someday.

Shit, I dunno man.
Checked your channel real quick and honestly just pick your poison.
Rpg makers/similar
>ib
>Junko
>Purgatory 1/2/X
Random games
>Rodland of Pipes
>Darkwood
>Buddy Simulator 1984
>Cuphead
>Aztez
>Hi-Fi Rush
The stuff everyone's probably already requested once or twice in the "niche but actually not at all" category
>Rain World
>Coffin of Andy & Leyley
>Look Outside
Those are games I'd maybe enjoy hearing a review or background noise for. Well, maybe not Junko, it's a bit too all over the place to get anything coherent out of it even if it was fun and it's too out of the the field to find much discussion about to steal info to explain what's actually happening.

Monster Rancher, mostly the Ultraman crossover on the Switch.
Opoona for the Wii. (There's a retranslation patch btw.)

Yeah, games that focus on story are hard to review, especially if you try and avoid spoilers. For me, I just tend to have a "Spolier Segment" where I spoil the game's plot and talk about it. But for a game that's nothing but a story? Where do you draw the line? That's why I don't think HoMD would be that hard. It's possible to talk about that game without even touching on the central plot because of how self-contained the stories are for each area, like in the sunless sea.

>>716083446
DQM, why Monsters, specifically?
>>716083652
My point exactly, HoMD is so focused on self-contained stories you'd have a field day with the script if you want to omit that part.
