If you were curious about improvements from 2 to 3: Salmon run got a good overhaul with 3, allowing you to throw eggs and adding extra waves with bosses. It also has it's own rotation so it's always available.
3 also has additional movement to do a dodge in the opposite direction when swimming in ink, blocking an instance of damage. You can also surge up painted walls.
A new minigame thats a each player taking turns to place distinctly shaped blocks on a grid to claim turf. Final main addition is lockers which is mostly just a way of using all the money you amass since they changed earning weapons to vouchers which you in turn earn from using weapons.
Raiders, the upcoming game, is supposed to be singleplayer only so splat3 should still have life in it for a while longer.
