I fucking hate how MMOtards need constant content or they just quit. I like to play an mmo slowly level up all my other classes and take breaks.

But every time I come back there's a bunch of new stupid shit and the old content is dead. Wish we could play private servers frozen in time but they just shut those down too.

then just stop going back to World of Warcraft then, retard

>MMOtards need constant content or they just quit

that's what happens when you make themeparks instead of sandboxes.

private servers
they may not always have the latest content but a server tends to stay on the expansion its set up for.

Play OSRS. I took a 2 year break, came back and I can continue exactly from where I left.
There are a few new upgrade paths I can explore, new places to see, and new quests to do, but my power level compared to everyone else is largely unchanged.

Albion Online. It has no levels or obsolete content and you can't fall behind for taking breaks. Even the tutorial is a relevant part of the game. The small amount of vertical progression it offers is almost optional to grind through. There is no endgame that you need to get to.

More mmos should be like Runescape where there is an absurd grind to max level the developers sincerely did not expect people to actually do and it doesn't really give any benefit either and all the 'end game' content is designed for the "achievable" levels of about 2~20% ( in osrs terms that's level 60~80)of the total experience curve.

How would you fix wows story at this point? The only way i can think of it is to reset to classic and try again.
Anonymous No.716094294

Release classic, tbc, and wrath as separate games and use them as forks and just add content within those expansions.

>sandbox mmo
>devolves into Second Life-lite
>make a new character
>old faggot gives you all the best gear and invites you into his cabin
Yeah real fun gameplay that appeals to a mass audience.

Yeah, you've never played a sandbox mmo.
Meanwhile themepark MMO FFXIV is literally Second Life 2.0

WoW still can live through smaller storylines in single player games (imagine a soulslike set in one of the zones like Duskwood; or a WoW themed Thief), but as a MMO ongoing story? nah, it's pretty much over
