How do we save JRPGs? They're a dying genre, everyone just plays gachas instead.
Anonymous No.716093630
Doesn't need saving

Stop turning JRPGs into slop action games nobody wants to play, it's just that easy.

Gachas are the natural evolution of JRPGs. They embody everything the JRPG represents taken to their extremes: the combat, the grind, the characters, the story, everything that makes a JRPG a JRPG.

Can't. The industry is on an unavoidable path toward esports, major Nintendo IPs, Fortnite, and gachas being the only games left.

jrpgs are too boring in today's environment. they were only fun in the 80s and 90s when there was nothing to do, comparatively.

JRPGs are the one genre that don't need saving.
Gachafags would not play JRPGs if there were no gacha. For example, gachafags that have not played any Persona games love the Persona Gacha. They don't care for Persona games themselves.

JRPGs are destined to be a lower profiting genre because it prioritizes being an actually good game over intriguing the lowest common denominator. It doesn't need to be popular to be good. All the best JRPGs are lesser known titles. That's fine by me.

Can you imagine if JRPGs blew up the way shooters and fighting games did? The genre would be absolutely unforgivable dogshit. There would be no more good JRPGs.

Personafags haven't played the Persona games either. That's probably the worst example you could have picked.

SO2 is way overrated. SO3, 4 and 6 are much better games with significantly better gameplay. 2fags are drunk on nostalgia.

Start a Patreon account? Do developer private Kick streams as a bonus to keep accountability and build interest and build a community and if there's people donating and joining with skills just hire them to assist? Start with a solid art direction since that's what sells majority JRPGs other than their gameplay elements as long as its not RPGmaker sloppa you can start with rough sketches or ideas. Get to it faggot.I don't have enough talent to serve such a noble cause.

Yeah but I'm a scrooge who hates gambling real money away. I barely wanna pay full price for a game, so why would I waste $400 on a limited jpeg?

Out of those Dragon Quest 4 and 5 are the best.
Earthboynd is an awful jrpg, star ocean doesn't get good until 2, and suikoden is overrated.

What makes it awful? I tried the first Mother and it had awful encounter rates but always heard good things about the 2nd. Is this just general anti-tendie sentiment?

Awful inventory and UI, boring characters and story, every character starts at lvl 1 so there is an extreme amount of grind, and middling combat. People only praise Earthbound for its aesthetics, in every other aspect it will put you to sleep.

>Genre is doing very well right now needs saving
Huh?
People are playing gacha games because they endlessly drip-feed content to the player base and trick them into grinding materials to power up new units. A good JRPG can't beat that monetarily speaking; all it can do is be a good game.
Anonymous No.716099321
>>716095763
you can very easily beat the game without grinding (and why would starting at level 1 imply you need to grind???)

They have to stop treating the genre as a low budget slop-machine and increase the quality. As much as I dislike chink gachas, they are absolutely shitting on Japan in terms of quality right now.

Increase the production values. Like 9/10 JRPGs that come out nowadays look like PS2 games.
