don't get me wrong, slop like bendy and hello neighbor wouldn't exist without fnaf but at the same time it didn't do even half as much damage as you seem to think it has

if by fnaf you mean poppy playtime you're right on the money
fnaf has always been trying to tell a story, with varying degrees of success due to scott cawthon's less than stellar writing talents
poppy and everything that came after it treats game theory revenue as gospel and markets/designs their games accordingly
that's the main reason why of the fnaf imitators, poppy is basically the only one that's still looked on favorably by the indie horror community

Story and lore contrivance mixed with plain old bad writing. The Mimic would be interesting in his own series with his own characters, but he's being used to rape every other character and plot event people thought they liked. Mark my words, the next game is going to reveal that this skinny bugman has actually been impersonating Henry for years, or it's actually Michael who really died in SL, just some crap like that to further shit on whatever goodwill still exists.
