I believe everyone when they say ocarina was the best game. unfortunately in the current year it’s considered difficult to play as it hasnt aged well. i tried playing it but dropped it. and the 3d version which looks a lot better is stuck on the 3ds. maybe they will do a remake of it

OOT and MM were my first exposure to Zelda as a kid and they soured my opinion on the franchise for years. Wasn't until Oracle of Seasons came out that I found top down Zelda and gave the franchise a second chance.

I played Link's awakening before OOT and MM. I liked them all, but I think atmosphere in games wasn't that great in general yet, and 3d zeldas excelled in it at the time. Z targeting and camera in general is a valid criticism, games haven't figured out double stick approach to the camera on console yet, and PC had the advantage with the mouse and keyboard controls, in that sense, 2d zelda were more accessible.
