I hate how they simplified investigations in this game. I get that sometimes the investigation segments would get confusing when you didn't know where to go next, but removing all of the investigating was not the fucking solution to that

But even by release order they didn't come first. If you go by release it's just AJ then I1 and I2, one of the best games in the series, then back to shit with DD and SOJ, then finally kino of the highest order is back on the menu with GAA1 and GAA2

When I first played Dual Destinies it was so bad it almost put me off of the rest of the series entirely. It's pretty telling when the DLC case is the best case of the game. Fortunately I stayed through and decided to play SoJ and TGAA which were pretty enjoyable.

Wait until you get to SoJ.

My problem with DD/SoJ is that the dialogue feels so "disneyfied". Like the characters are flanderized versions of themselves. It's like they changed the writer. Like, the original trilogy had mature dialogues. The new one had the opposite.

Apollo was best in AA4 when he was just a rookie lawyer who looked up to Phoenix and Kristoph, whatever the fuck they did to him in DD and SoJ was retarded when Capcom could've just expanded on his Gramarye backstory and had him becoming a more experienced lawyer on his own without Phoenix. It's like in DD they forgot that Apollo was still supposed to be a new lawyer so then in SoJ they had to do that whole "you're a real lawyer now!" thing and give him his big moment after Phoenix took the center stage for most of the game again.
Phoenix in DD/SoJ should've been like Mia in the original trilogy where he shows up only when Athena and Apollo need real help to win their case.

I used to agree with this sentiment but looking back there's a lot of charm in the investigation sequences, especially in the original trilogy. They should just cut down on the investigation sequences and make the court segments longer. Or bring back Gumshoe and Franziska

It's been bad since the beginning. Blame Crapcom localizers.
it's a mess because of the localizer "creative liberties" with the earlier games such as Khurain, character personality, etc. The fanfiction they've been building up no longer match with Shu Takumi's vision, and they can't really wing it as usual, so the localizers just went fuckall and wrote their own shit in the later games, hence the dogshit writing.
