I only started the game a few days ago and just got to the forest but I'm liking my big fucker upper axe, gascione was definitely the most satisfying "oh nice I actually beat him" moment (wolf lady got stuck inna wall which made killing her kinda hollow)
have 't seen enough of the game to pick an area but they're all nice so far
in terms of fighting I like the sackboys since it feels very life or death every time trying to kill them before they power up, in terms of just liking an enemy it's the machine gun grampas in wheelchairs
the cleric dude you meet by the little church going to machine gun town is nice so far and sounds like solaire so I'm siding with him
I get why the people who like this game are so often bitchy toward other souls games, it's very different but quite fun, healing from attacking changes the strategy a lot and makes fights a lot more fun since you can take more risks

It actually doesn't, that's a crop of a wider view. If you actually got close enough to them they'd look a bit smoother. It is still a decade old game.
What's more impressive is that it was developed at exactly the same time as DS2 yet looks light years better in almost every way.

>guarding entrance to Byrgenwerth which contains Rom whos maintaining the veil and also the in-universe entrance to the chalice dungeons
They're the main line of defense for anybody who somehow made it past the woods, working for Queen Yharnam. The gatekeeper is the first, since very few people know the password. Then you have more Yharnamites in the village outside who kill everyone and the woods is overrun with monsters. Anyone who makes it past them is killing Rom and bringing the Blood Moon.

Bloodborne was hugely ahead of its time and holds up incredibly well graphically, especially now that we can play it in 4K on PC. It looks better than Elden Ring in some areas. A few low-res textures aside it could pass for a current-gen game.

It's really good now, if you have decent hardware. 4K runs flawlessly as long as you have VRAM to spare, and vertex explosions can be fixed with readbacks at the expense of occasional stutters. I played through the entire game and the DLC on the BBguy emulator build; am currently doing all the Chalice Dungeons.

It's ok when you're looking stuff up in the chalice dungeons.
I played this game to death but to this day never bothered to actually finish the story dungeons. There's many unique enemies down there, some are supposedly extremely rare and even most dungeon delvers have never seen them.

In base game I think it's also fine to look up questlines. But actual places like the abandoned workshop and stuff can be found organically by just paying attention to your surroundings and exploring carefully.

I unironically want a Bloodborne version of Nightreign where it goes full path of exile on gem system with crazy implicits and effects and mods you can gem per weapon and a randomised full yarnham city + surrounds that randomises, as well as full realtime underground catacombs you can enter into from many points, it has covenants and character runes expanded on massively as well as passive vampriic ayy beast stuff.

I want all the trick weapons and more and I want it in 4k HDR 120fps with modern graphics, I will play this game till the end of time

Please, modders, the work is there, the assets are there, all it requires is the making.

Lately I've been looking at all the cut/changed content stuff for Bloodborne and besides a couple of interesting things like the fact that they put a ladder after Gascoigne just to make sure you didn't get into Cathedral Ward before it had time to load it really saddens me how much had to be changed to manage the deadline they had, like the game was almost entirely different just 4 months before it went out

Still the one thing that saddens me the most is that Lady Maria was supposed to have a more active role in the DLC where she would have some dialogue for you before you could reach her boss fight, kinda like sister Friede.

The entire story, completely spun off pontiff sulyvahn from lothric but they forgot to take down the statue of Lothric holding what was rewritten into Sulyvahn's sword, all the multiplayer mechanics, gutted a whole system for making bonfires, completely changed how the game was supposed to end, cut the entire final area of the game and replaced it with the dreg heap, ripped out half the centerpiece of the whole game world out and turned it into a dragon gimmick area, distributed assets from another cut area to almost every part of the game including the DLC and even ER afterward

Narratively, that pool is meant to be used by the Church to go to and from the Woods and it just so happens to be nearby her clinic. The story twist of "nice doctor turns out to be a serial killer but behold! turns out she really was nice all along and an impostor killed her, transformed her and took her place" loses its narrative weight if we establish the OG doctor really was also evil all along. It makes the twist meaningless, because there's no reason for the impostor to take over if both Iosefka's have the same moral alignments.
Mechanically, that cave didn't use to be there during most of Bloodborne's development, and the tunnel that lead from the Clinic to the Woods was a normal one. The Cave was part of the Altar of Despair, and both were part of Byrgenwerth.

Even though it predates the final draft of the game the opening sequence still shows Yhorm waking up by Firelink Shrine so the names getting shuffled around the designs didn't really cause issues, like it typically doesn't
Creating a character out of nothing like Sulyvahn and then not accounting for it anywhere in the game, and then trying to justify the changes further in the DLC and then having cut content IN THE DLC for this same character is where DS3 uniquely fucks up

According to the former head of SIE, Sony are aware that people want Bloodborne Remastered, but are respectfully waiting for Miyazaki to request it directly.
Apparently Fromsoft is doing a DS3 remaster, which honestly we don't need that game is fine, and AC6.5, alongside continued development for Duskbloods and Nightreign content.

Not really, you can watch LanceMcDonald's and Abyss1ne's videos for everything that's been restored overtime and there's also been some videos here and there showcasing early navmeshes and sound design for God's Grave and there's a very shitty cubemap of what the original last area of the game was (note that Abyss1ne injects some of his own shit without notice in a couple of his videos, namely his Untended Graves video where he modded the defunct warp event to a map that doesn't exist anymore to go to a reskined DS1 map he imported with Sulyvahn placed there)
Even though the assets got scattered all over the place over the years the concept for God's Grave basically became the Godwyn section of ER's underground, but leaving the Oceiros fungus on the enemies they moved to the Carthus Catacombs (that also has its own history of cut content out the ass) is still one of the funniest things

You can tell how well made BB really was because it has absolutely nothing even close to the level of what DS3 does

When I first played I picked the threaded cane bc I have a tradition of always picking Wanderer/Vagabond since DeS and threaded cane was the most dex-ish weapon available.
Then I switched to the saw cleaver after cascoigne (the cane's damage is just so shit for like 3/4s of the game until you reach the softcap in skill) for the rest of the game and it became one of my fav weapons ever.
So basic but also so versatile. The backstep r1/r2s in transformed mode are also really underrated.

>Only birth is, and not in the way that's related to motherhood
Oh it is. Yharnam is a central figure in the story and is literally a grieving mother. When you defeat the Wet Nurse you ensure that Queen Yharnam gets her child back. Kos (some say Kosm) and her orphan are the final encounter of the DLC and how the hamlet fishers / the chruch treated her are a big part of the DLC's story. Yes Gherman/Maria are the actual centerpiece but I could see how a real woman would react more strongly to most of these themes in BB since they're directly affected by them.

As I said, your mind needs to be clouded by a unbearably thick fog of culture war brainrot to immediately jump to transsexuals.

there's always been light speculation that the boss fight set up to occur in the Rosaria covenant room turned into Rennala but unlike BB, old builds of DS3 have been very hard for the usual suspects in the community to come by.
The one Lance used to make this video https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E89o_75Or2U was presumed to be a gamescom demo because actual assets still exist for a bunch of these old things but he's been vague on exactly where he got it all this time while normally he's been pretty upfront about BB builds that came from PS4 devkits

So you cannot, got it. There's no reason to do the fucking twist if the end result's the same narratively. That's not how stories are written. There's no twist if the idea is that real Iosefka and impostor Iosefka would've done the exact same thing. Which is further compounded by the fact real Iosefka is unarmed vs impostor Iosefka using a Threaded Cane and Repeating Pistol, and real Iosefka fucking refusing to open the door to anyone from the outside which you'd think she'd want to if her objective was to experiment on innocents vs impostor Iosefka being all too eager to get anyone into her claws.
So on one hand you've got real Iosefka wanting to keep her patients isolated from the plague outside, her being unarmed, her giving you the best healing item in the game any time you ask for free and her questline's narrative clinging on the twist that the person taking over her identity is going to be someone that ruins what came before and destroys what good was there. On the other hand you've got the impostor asking you to bring people in so they can be experimented on and being visibly armed with Church weapons from the other side of the door. And the end result is your dumb fucking ass believing this is meant to show that actually both Iosefkas were essentially the same character morally and personality-wise which makes you wonder why bother with the twist if it's going to change absolutely fucking nothing about the player's perception of the character. You're saying Hyetta and Irina would've been the same. You're too retarded to keep being given (You)s.

Yes, the real Iosefka seems to genuinely care about her patients, while the impostor will sacrifice anything and everything to become a slug.
But the real one is still associated with the Healing Church, and "heals" people by injecting them with the old blood. She's by no means a pure soul - nobody in Yharnam is, except those who never went through blood ministration (so maybe young children, possibly not even them).

She probably doesn't know exactly (IIRC there's like 5 people who do), but she does have a general idea of where it comes from. And she did buy into the whole "let's get high on alien blood" thing enough to have her own clinic dedicated to it. But I'm not singling her out as especially evil, my point is that applying concepts like "good" to ANYONE in the story seems misguided, since conventional morality went out of the window way back when the Healing Church was founded.
Anonymous No.716228525 >>716230883 >>716245501

>the real one is still associated with the Healing Church
She's really not. The clothes are a technical limitation because there's no factionless medical outfit in the game and you're never meant to fully see real Iosefka through the door. By the time the game starts the Healing Church and all its members are being hunted down which is why they've retreated to Cathedral Ward, locked all the doors to the district and you can find a myriad of Church corpses all over the streets, slain by Yharnamites. For Iosefka to operate a makeshift hospital (given it looks like a regular manor, has no rooms dedicated to medical care and the operating tables are haphazardly shoved into what seem like normal living spaces) open to the public, refining her own blood and not being hunted by the Yharnamites patrolling right outside her door it shows that she's not part of the besieged and hated Church
>"heals" people by injecting them with the old blood

How is she not when she feels it necessary to lock the door, and abandon the first few rooms (which are quite ruined)?

Dunno, seems like what I'd expect to find in that era. They didn't have modern sterile operating rooms back then you know, they barely knew to wash their hands.
>Do we see her do that?
Not directly, but the blood she gives you (obviously derived from the old blood somehow) is the most powerful healing item you get. She's clearly a high-class researcher, not just some country doctor.
>at no point is he referenced as an employer of hers
Given the size of her clinic and the number of tables, she obviously needs to have some assistants. So barring information to the contrary, it seems reasonable to assume he is her associate. Her not mentioning him is not so strange given she barely says anything at all.

They're big themes. But it is a very masculine vision of motherhood and menstruation, not a feminine one.
The writer of a post like that is not a woman, women rarely play games like Bloodborne unless they're a Youtuber trying to make money. That was written by a man pretending to be a woman and writing what they think that women would say.

If you want the theme of Bloodborne, it is DH Lawrence via Lovecraft.
Much like how Dark Souls is Nietzsche via Berserk.
Lawrence believed that more than our mind, our consciousness and sense of self and personhood, was embodied in our flesh, particularly our blood. That flowed and moved without control or thought, but was our life force and reacted to our emotions and circumstances, speeding up or slowing according to stimuli or thoughts. And this unconscious intellect, that was embodied in our blood or parts of the circulatory system, contained our true inherited instincts and our other mental energies. This is where our spirit truly was, not in our brains, but in our blood.

>now I am convinced of what I believed when I was about twenty - that there is another seat of consciousness than the brain and the nerve system: there is a blood-consciousness which exists in us independently of the ordinary mental-consciousness, which depends on the eye as its source or connector. There is the blood-consciousness, with the sexual connection, holding the same relation as the eye, in seeing, holds to the mental consciousness. One lives, knows, and has one’s being in the blood, without any reference to nerves and brain. This is one half of life, belonging to the darkness. And the tragedy of this our life, and of your life, is that the mental and nerve consciousness exerts a tyranny over the blood-consciousness, and that your will has gone completely over to the mental consciousness, and is engaged in the destruction of your blood-being or blood-consciousness, the final liberating of the one, which is only death in result.

A huge part of Bloodborn is a criticism of the tyranny of the intellect over the instincts and how intellectuals can create a toxic system that destroys people by overlooking instinctual fears or aversions with their excessive curiosity or ambition.
The Hunter is a creature of instinct that must clean up the mess of intellectuals that messed around with things that were far beyond their reach regardless of common sense or natural fears.
Those that ignored their blood consciousness and pursued enlightenment through the brain, and became worse for it. And who doped the masses with substances that distorted their blood and caused atavistic breakdowns in otherwise normal people, turning them into beasts.
Quicksilver/Mercury in the blood representing the presence of Eldritch Gods is a big part of this. Also a reference to the Minamata Incident in Japan.

People should really stop wanking over early designs and "cut content".
Every single complex project, be it vidya, movies, novels, engineering, anything whatsoever, involves rough initial drafts for the purpose of finding out what works and what doesn't. And those drafts are then gradually molded into the final product by iteration and refinement. There's nothing sacred about them, they literally exist to be cut up and discarded as necessary.
Every single game in existence has "cut content", that does not make it unfinished. Quite the opposite actually - the only games without cut content are those that are never finished and released.

Like DeS would've fundamentally been the same game had it had the 6th Archstone, and DaS' Project Dark trailer looks like the same game unlike BB with Project Beast. Some days I feel like Bloodborne is the game it is because Miyazaki wasn't given time to refine his ideas further. It's his mindset at its most 'raw'. DS3, be it because he second guessed himself or be it because Bamco requested he leave the door open for needless sequels, seemed to go from "oh shit this is the apocalypse, the world is ending, everything is rotting away, it's the eclipse of the whole universe" as teased in the leaks and High Wall of Lothric with the Pus of Man to the weird ass thing where "the world has ended in Untended Graves but also not really, and people are turning into trees but that's never elaborated upon, and there's Primordial Serpent statues in Lothric but that's never elaborated upon, and putting together the ashes of all the lords of cinder... teleports you to the Dreg Heap? But it's a totally different Dreg Heap from that of the DLCs. And the plot is suddenly all about paint now. And there's this Ringed City where Gwyn's SECOND secret daughter was chilling in all along, and touching her egg destroys all but Lothric and Anor Londo in the background. Which is interesting because you had to walk through the ruins of Lothric to get to the Ringed City. And the final boss of the entire trilogy is a Santa hobo you've talked to twice before"

However, Bloodborne rejects this idea, as evidenced by the fact humans (including the player) can ascend to become Great Ones. The decisive factor in all this is insight, or inhuman knowledge as the game puts it. Gaining insight decreases your beasthood stat. The beast represents humanity's atavistic and instinctual shadow, which becomes agitated when faced with the potential for transcendence, and its own obsolescence; but supreme knowledge is capable of overcoming it. The ideology of Byrgenwerth was proven correct by the story's events; the scholars' primary error was simply their retarded literalism (lets stick eyes in our skulls for insight!!1). Mind over matter, and knowledge above all. Bloodborne is a Faustian tale, if anything.

Still is
>High Wall of Lothric with the Pus of Man
Pus of Man happens because the stagnating Dark within Men can no longer be held back by the fading ring of fire around the Dark Sign.
>the world has ended in Untended Graves but also not really
Untended Graves are a glimpse into a world where Dark is about to take over, and where made by the Kingdom of Lothric so that the stagnant time there could let them project prospecting Lords of Cinder to the Kiln of the First Flame.
>people are turning into trees
Because all people are trees. They were born in the age of ancients where only trees and dragons existed. Hollows have always had a ligneous, rooty texture upon themselves in DS1.
>Primordial Serpent statues in Lothric
Lothric has centered its culture upon the Linking of the Fire, thus they have statues of Frampt.
>putting together the ashes of all the lords of cinder... teleports you to the Dreg Heap?
Bonefires are all linked across time. Thanks to the Lordvessel under the Firelink bonefire, you teleport to the future version of the Kiln where it has almost consumed everything else.
>But it's a totally different Dreg Heap from that of the DLCs.
It's from a little later in time
>And the plot is suddenly all about paint now.
Ariamis always painted the DS1 world with his blood.
>Ringed City where Gwyn's SECOND secret daughter was chilling in all along
Never said that Gwyn had no second daughter
>touching her egg destroys all
It's a giant Vagrant that's being used to hold back time from affecting the City. Defusing it makes millennia pass in an instant.

To be clear I agree that DS3 is a huge mess and was harmed massively by all the shuffling around, but this description is either disingenuous or shallow. The DLC storytelling made sense to me. It's all the same Dreg Heap; you can teleport from the Kiln of the First Flame over to it. Dreg Heap represents the collapse of time and space at the end of the Age of Fire, with all the different civilizations that existed at different points in history converging on the Firelink Shrine, forming a massive sinkhole of civilizational refuse. Below it all lies the end of time; the final state which always invariably awaits at the end of all the countless cycles - an ashen wasteland dotted with ruins, everything in existence burnt up to sustain the Age of Fire. The Ringed City is a sort of microcosmic reality marble which exists in this place, but falls apart upon Filianore's awakening. Gael represents the Undead and their struggle. Having consumed every last fragment of the Dark Soul, his wounding transposes it into blood, thereby liberating it from the curse of the seal of fire Gwyn had placed upon it, finally ending the Age of Fire for good and enabling the creation of a new world for humanity. It's the reason soul transposition was considered a heretical art and Ludleth was banished for practicing it.

What the fuck is a bribri. And I'm talking about magical chair bosses like >>716159249, with Amelia being designed for Hemwick and the like. Areas like Hemwick or Nightmare Frontier being designed to be played backwards from how they're played in the final game, game starting in Hemwick, the concept of warp chairs which would've tied to finding Micolash' corpse sitting in one, or hell's sake just Micolash in general. Why does he fight with Why does Micolash beckon Kos? Why does he fight with Augur of Ebrietas and A Call Beyond if Ebrietas is tied to the Choir and he's the leader of Mensis, their archnemesis? Because during 90% of the game's development who we know as Ebrietas was called Kos, and so those where Kos' weapons. So when he talked about "Kos or some say Kosm" he didn't mean a boss that didn't exist until 7 months later in a DLC in a dream plane several realities apart from him, he meant the Old One that's now in-game in a location that makes no geographical sense. You know, the Great One who's connected to Rom, who Micolash says "like you did with Rom, grant us eyes" tying it all together, the one that technically has a deep connection to the Healing Church and Byrgenwerth yet is suspiciously optional and matters little in the final game. Also, why is the Church venerating the Beast skull of their leader in the open? Why does Byrgenwerth, led by a grandpa in a wheelchair, have you climb a hand ladder to get to their observatory? Why is Logarius a Pthumerian looking guy sitting in a throne with a crown in his head weirdly NOT the King of Cainhurst?

Everyone who says there are lore for these dudes is reaching.

There was meant to be a giant snake boss, it got cut because of lack of dev time because they blew their load on Yharnam and had to rush everything from the woods to the end of the game.

The giant snake was meant to be the source of the snake parasites that had infested the woods but because it got cut along with all its lore, and it just got repurposed into a boss attack + the snake whistle tool, all the lore got cut with it. So now the snake parasites look like giant space fleas from nowhere

IRL explanation, they were just doing Los Plagas

Scratching my head at most of this post.
BB was never going to start in Hemwick, the starting point alternated between different places in Iosefka's clinic, and that was being figured out when the asset-less level layouts were still being decided on. In the story of the final game, Bergenwyrth made contact with Ebrietas before the split even happened, and it happened in the labyrinth, which the Augur literally tells you upfront. Swapping the names around didn't create any inconsistencies with any of that. Switching the king out for Logarius narratively also was minimal impact, because the crown is still the actual Cainhurst King's crown. I think the warp chairs were cooler than the lanterns but the rest of this is really just "look at this thing that changed in development" but they don't speak to a radically different or a more cohesive game at all.

The issue isn't cut content, it is that how things are cut or rearranged is so drastic and sweeping that it indicates that what exists in the end product is hardly intentional and well planned, but just what survived by the time the release date came up.
When the story of version 1.0, without the Day 1 Patch, can be totally different from the version 1.xx, that changes things from just 'cut content' to "this game is held together with zip ties and dreams right now".

Iosefka's clinic is definitely patterned off standard 1800s medical offices.
The gallery where you have the catwalks above the operating tables was a very standard part of that era's medical education, as students would watch doctors below from up above to learn. In earlier versions of the area, you'd even be able to get up there and obtain some items.

It means you escape being tethered to the dream and the horrid night of the hunt that seemingly lasts longer than usual due to Mensis and Mergo. But more hunts will happen, god knows how many Yharnamites are alive. Even the beggar inside the Cathedral Ward and a few other NPC's say this particular hunt isn't a joke or routine like the others.

They're literally actual umbilical cords, Yharnam and Fake Iosefka make that clear, and we do tons of shit that other people don't with our artifacts.
Laurence would never have had the gumption to eat the umbilical cord, that is why he became a beast and not a God after mixing his blood. We don't just try and commune with the Gods through it as a fetish, we make it a part of our flesh and body and our real spiritual soul. It isn't an intellectual experience, but a physical one.

>Use to gain Insight and, so they say, eyes on the inside, although no one remembers what that truly entails.
>Provost Willem sought the Cord in order to elevate his being and thoughts to those of a Great One, by lining his brain with eyes. The only choice, he knew, if man were to ever match Their greatness.
>This Cord granted Mensis audience with Mergo, but resulted in the stillbirth of their brains.
The "eyes on the inside" represent the degree of lucidity one can attain while dreaming. A single cord isn't enough, which is why Gehrman and Micolash ended up trapped in nightmares controlled by different Great Ones. Upon consuming 3 cords one attains full lucidity and mastery over the dream. This is why the Hunter is able to literally wrest control of the Hunter's Dream from the Moon Presence. It actually becomes the player's dream upon consuming the third cord. This interpretation makes the most sense to me as it is perfectly in line with the way Lovecraft treated dreams and humanity's relationship with them in his stories.

The perfect time to do any of this was the 10 year anniversary this year and they could've made easy money. They. Do. Not. Care. They would rather promote Dad of War, a lesbian in a post apocalyptic zombie world and an ugly woman with facial hair killing dinosaur robots in a game nobody played.

For the dream part, see >>716245447. For the rest: you're looking for Paleblood. The game opens with the Blood Minister going "oh yes, Paleblood..." showing he's talking about it as a response to your question. Then after ministration, you find pic related which in JP is made clearer that you wrote yourself. The description of the clothes you start the game in end with "Without memory, who will ever know?", establishing that the intro's blood ministration left you with amnesia. So you came to Yharnam looking for Paleblood, but you now don't remember why or even what that is. Great.
So blood ministration is basically being injected by Old Blood from the dungeons, which as an outsider means you end up having a bad trip. That is probably what the Blood Minister refers to when he says "You may think it all a mere bad dream...". He probably doesn't mean the Hunt, but the hallucination with the werewolf reaching for you. Only then, the Messengers pop in and choose you ("Ah, you've found yourself a Hunter"). There's no reason for this, you're just randomly selected to be this Night's main Hunter, and Gherman himself tells you to not think about it too hard and to just go out there and kill some beasts.
So you ask Gilbert, the window NPC in front of the first (second) lamp in the game, about Paleblood 'cause you read your own note about it, and he tells you he doesn't know what that is but that the Healing Church is Blood HQ so they might know something about it. That leads you to Cathedral Ward and on the way you find out about Byrgenwerth from both Alfred's dialogue and the note in Oedon Chapel's basement. Your search of the Church bears no fruit because it's empty except for one furry wife, and upon touching a funky skull you find even more out about Byrgenwerth so you decide to just... head there, because I mean fuck it not like you have a better plan.

So in any case, all this shit started when Willem leader of Byrgenwerth and Laurence his pupil found the Old Blood in the Chalices and thought they could ascend humanity with it. Only Willem wanted to chill out and study it first while Laurence wanted to act now, which is what formed the schism: Willem tells Laurence to fear the old blood, Laurence goes to Yharnam and founds the Healing Church on the promise of this funky new blood being good for the citizens (it isn't). In time subfactions emerge like the Choir and Mensis, and the latter go full schizo wanting to pull this ritual off that summons the red moon to try and ascend as well ("Grant us eyes, grant us eyes. Plant eyes on our brains, to cleanse our beastly idiocy"). At some point, somehow, one of the closest times humanity gets to ascending happens via Rom, a supposed Byrgenwerth scholar and follower of Willem, who turns into the caterpillar spider she is. And as a follower of the grandpa that believes these newer generations are playing with fire that will destroy humanity, she uses her power to delay the ritual and the moon for as long as she can, hidden in the lake ("The Byrgenwerth spider hides all manner of rituals, and keeps our lost master from us" on the Mensis side of things and "The spider hides all manner of rituals, certain to reveal nothing, for true enlightenment need not be shared" on the Byrgenwerth side). Thing is, our Hunter is a fucking retard who kills her, breaking the seal and ushering in the blood moon and the full might of the ritual of Mensis. Beasts transform all over the city, the Choir is annihilated (the "Make Contact" mummy probably spontaneously combusted on the spot while making contact with the moon right when the ritual was revealed), Yahar'gul lads summon The One Reborn...

It's at this point your Hunter is told "Ritual secret broken. Seek the nightmare newborn". Likewise, exploring the rest of the Unseen Village you find another note going "Nightmarish rituals crave a newborn. Find one, and silence its harrowing cry". So whatever crazy stuff is happening, your objective if you want this nightmare to end is to find a newborn and end his cries. You could arrive at Yahar'gul earlier in the story and find a weird note saying "Behold! A Paleblood sky!" only no such sky was present. Now, with the ritual revealed, you can see the blood moon and purple sky around it, signifying the moon was there all along even the first time you came around, you just couldn't see it due to Rom, akin to dark Anor Londo in DS1. The sky, the moon, THAT is the Paleblood that our character was looking for, for some reason. And to end the Paleblood sky and thus the nightmare and the Hunt, we need to end the newborn that Mensis/Micolash seek. So you go to the Nightmare of Mensis, stop Micolash, find the newborn Mergo, silence him and end your hunt. That's why it's only at this point that you can choose to end the game and return to the Waking World. There's more, like who the Moon Presence is, who Mergo/Yharnam are, the whole deal with Laurence and the Cainhurst Vilebloods, but desu I'm tired of typing so hope you got something out of it.

Paleblood is a certain type of sky color when a certain ritual has been performed. The Mensis ritual.
Its meant to reference a corpse colored sky in the Japanese, IIRC, like a cadaver, where all the blood is gone from the skin. Particularly like the lips. Which is why when you see it the Moon (Presence) is close, reddened, and the sky is a purple blue.
When the Mensis ritual is unsealed again properly, and it is revealed that they made a communion with the Gods. And this seems to open up the door for Gods to make their presence known again.
We want to seek this, because their ritual also happened to open up a direct path to Mergo, the Great One that the Hunter's boss is trying to get us to kill for them.

>How is she not when she feels it necessary to lock the door
Wonder if it's because of the part of her dialogue where she says I CANNOT OPEN THIS DOOR BECAUSE THE PATIENTS HERE IN MY CLINIC MUST NOT BE EXPOSED TO INFECTION
>and abandon the first few rooms
Wonder if it has anything to do with the Scourge Beast chilling in it and the EXPOSED INFECTION COMING FROM HIS BLOOD AND THE CORPSES IN THE ROOM
>They didn't have modern sterile operating rooms back then you know
Which of course automatically translates to shoving a couple stretchers into random rooms filled with books and shit instead of something like the Research Hall or the countless pictures we have of well organized Victorian medical clinics
>the blood she gives you (obviously derived from the old blood somehow)
No more obvious than the one Arianna can give you. Would you say a random prostitute unaware of her past is also actively working for the Healing Church?
>Given the size of her clinic
Half the clinic in the warded off section she resides in constitutes of staits and a hallway
>and the number of tables
There's 4 all grouped together in the same room where you obtain the Communion +3 rune, then one in the room the impostor dies in seemingly put there by her to try and make contact, then the two in the room you start the game in which you can see through the locked door how they remain empty. So she has 4 tables in one small room to take care of
