Been obsessed with this game since last week, glad I'll actually be able to beat the game on my first playthrough. Some Anon told me that theres gonna be a way to use military guns without needing the arm wraps so I've been stockpiling ammo for the Famas to use. Is the Sniper even worth using? I've only got a stack and a half of its ammo, and the Magbow oneshots the winter soldiers so idk if I even want to keep trying to get one.
what are they doing to soups
>>716117263i think they're giving them all unique models/textures, not sure if there's more to it than that
I got this with a friend, is it alright as a 2 player coop game or do you need more players to really enjoy it?
>>716118538i think it's perfect with two peepo
>>716118878good, hopefully the release isn't buggy
Have they fixed the absolutely dog shit server software yet? Or is it still some half-assed Windows trash fire?
Looking forward to it, I only played 14 hours because I wanted to wait for 1.0.
Is this game still friendslop or did they update it to actually be playable solo.
>>716112294 (OP)I played the shit out of this like a year ago and got to the snow area and stopped
Do you think it's worth starting over for 1.0?
>>716121105let's see how much they'll have changed the early game, but imo if you haven't played for a year it's probably worth starting over anyway
>>716120687Always was playable solo, most of these type of games have good custom settings to increase material yields and make the gathering much less tedious for solo players. Combat is fine as is IMO, multiplayer you might wanna buff the enemies slightly

>>716137482perosnally, the security room near the flathill portal is always the best launching spot and a good base to keep when raiding the area of resupply. You can also set up bases in the research wing near the automated turrets, such as the other security room there, and once you reset the turrets to help you, they will defend you from base attacks. The submarine depot is also an amazing place to set up a base as nothing can get down there and it gives you easy access to the hydroplant and powerplant
>>716137482Tram station is my go to. It's on the smaller side but you get all 4 trams and raids get funneled through the small walkway tunnel.

Another trinket that gets slept on is the order trinket, it also boosts the drop rate of the order's guns (at least it did when I played it last back in October)
I was drowning in revolvers and sniper rifles
I still think the game looks neat, but I don't want a coopsloop survival crafting game. I played so much fucking Minecraft and Terraria back in the day that I'm pretty sure I've become allergic. >>716142058played coop 60 hours starting with the launch of dark energy to completion where the story ends, 4 players total - had no major issues but very late game there seemed to be some stuttering at times, possibly due to players going between zones or just having so much stuff built at that point, not really sure but it wasn't something that was there all the time, it came and went quickly and it was minor stutters, maybe also had to do with me being in NY, a player down in DC and another in Cali. Are you required to use guns later because enemies keep teleporting and doing a million damage later on and melee weapons just felt like dogshit
>>716142470The one thing I like about it is that there is a story to work on. It's not just sit in a base and autism until you ask "what now?". You have active objectives to complete and building a base is to help you achieve those. Also there is something fresh about survival/crafting in an office.

stuff like the laser made the game a cake-walk for the final sections since you could also carry around the way to charge it up
>>716142470i hate most craft/survival games but AF at the very least doesn't feel super punishing when it comes to the survival aspect, yea you gotta eat/drink/sleep/poop to stay in good shape but that's all pretty easily managed once you clear the first area or two and learn what works and what doesn't
there's also perks in the current version that reduce the need for a lot of those things if you balance out your character traits well during creation
i went with the less sleep needed and less thirst and it was a really nice buff that saw me going much longer than my coop partners when they were around

However, they are supposed to be improving the way the game decides what is and isn't a player base, so you won't get raids spawning inside your base. That should make a lot of areas more viable as bases.
>>716149358They really need to stop with the 'roaming SCP out to get you' thing. The Leyak is a good addition to the game IMO and it's introduced really well. OTOH the Security section and the nightmare thing are fucking awful and not really scary, if anything I found it to be a chore and there's no real reason to ever return to security once you're done unlike the rest of the sectors which have a thing or to you'll want to return for. >>716150467They Leyak can't spawn within a certain distance of the player, but he ignores the workbenches. Thus, if you have a large base or leave your base, he may spawn inside the base.
He's a little challenging at first, but once you get a few x-ray towers and eventually the x-ray lamp he's very manageable. Once you get into Security you can make the sensory companion which makes him completely trivial, and when you get into Hydro you can contain him for good.
Base locations like the B-side tram make him much more manageable, as there is only one path in or out even for the Leyak.
Though you still must be careful about him potentially spawning inside the base when you are away.

BE ADVISED. I don't know if the default graphics settings are automatically adjusted based on your hardware but for me the game's anti-aliasing defaulted to epic quality and "TSR". I've played it solo for 10 hours now with zero issues.
So... what settings are recommended for solo play? Normal or hard?
>>716155798you dont know what that buzzword means.
>>716155798I've played solo for 50 hours and the only issue I've had was killing the Tarasque, you pretty much have to cheese it playing alone. Everything else is perfectly fine solo
>>716156137I did normal because occasional base invasions get annoying on hard
https://youtu.be/cvOdt_cKk6M
So for killing the big robot guys that come out at night. Are you supposed to just set down a spinning blade and let them walk into twenty times and kill themselves? Melee and ranged did nothing even with like 6 shock traps. It feels dirty killing them because their pathfinding is retarded.
>>716156643I just used shock traps and smacked them a bit when they were stunned. It took a little while but not that long, I don't know if they changed anything in the new update though.
Give me starter tips please
>>716156643If you're set up in the cafeteria, how I killed my first few was I set up 3 tripwire mines (the ones that take a box of nails to fill) and put them near the top of the door frame above the dead guy, then I would aggro the bots and lure him into walking into them. After all 3 blow up on him, he should die within a few additional attacks.
>>716156643>just set down a spinning blade and let them walk into twenty times and kill themselvesOr you could pre-emptively destroy them in their charging bays with the spinning blades during the day, they barely get out of the pod before dying, there is nothing they can do.
>>716157045That's even worse
>>716156643Floor 3 has an instant kill spot for the mech, I figured it was intentional
>>716156883You can use tech scrap to extend wiring
>>716155798You can adjust your world balance if you think it's off. Personally, I hate having to return to base after poking 3 things to death. Maybe that's more reasonable when you aren't the only person attacking.
Anyways, despite that I've soloed the whole thing to the last end of available content just fine with default settings.
>>716157141What makes it even worse is the fact it's pretty much the intended way to deal with them at the start of the game, you're pretty much meant to cheese them since none of your actual offensive capabilities are too effective and these fuckers are a real threat to your base from night 1.
According to the wiki it should take like 7 crossbow bolts to destroy one if I'm reading it right, but I'm sure I wasted stacks of bolts on the guys back on my first playthrough.
>>716156883You can reset the spoilage timer on food. Place the freshest ingredient of a type inside a container. Then stack your almost rotten food on top of it. It will inherit that fresh timer. You can then split the stack and do it again. This requires at least 1 fresh ingredient per type though.

>>716153784The fuck, they're the guys behind The Dead Linger? Holy shit biggest redemption arc in the industry.

How's this run in Proton, just works or need any tweaking?
Redpill me on this if my friends and I are enjoying Valheim but almost finished it. Is the map static?
>>716158674one of the biggest selling points is that the whole world is hand crafted from top to bottom. nothing procedural or randomly generated here
>>716156883Learn how to make soup ASAP
>>716158417yeah, easy to get since i have a teleporter to shadowgate, bunch of cement right outside.
>>716158474I kept reading about them on the wiki, and apparently if you shoot them in the torso once their torso goes to 0hp, it starts damaging their head which also has to go to 0hp.
You're supposed to be hitting the camera they have in their upper body to kill them fast, still 180hp there and if you're whiffing some of your hits and attacking the torso, you're going to be fighting the thing for a good while.
I'll still just cheese them at the start of the game since 7 consistent hits on such a small, moving target with low aiming is a pain in the ass.
>>716150251>more legit sites like CDKeysLOL
>>716156883it's HL levels of jank, so just side step enemies attack or backstep, especially on the big robot
guns are usually worse than the crafted weapons, ammo economy is shit
the in game map sucks ass, rely on muscle memory or make signs that point you where to go. The game is metroidvania in map design in that there's a shit ton of shortcuts that you unlock
you can edit sandbox settings, i turned up skill XP gain rate, stack size and reduce hunger rate and spoilage rate
>repair station is like 1/2, maybe 1/3rd of its former size

>>716156883slushie bombs are OP as fuck, theyre cheap to make ($1 from slushie machine) to get 3 and they freeze pretty much every enemy for 3s
hoard pens when you see them, they can be used to make crossbow bolts which is your main range weapon for a lot of the 1st hafl
>>716156883shields are great for tanking enemy attacks, the only downside is each hit drains your stamina
stealth is a bitch to train but if you level it enough you can deal double damage on sneak attacks, which lets you one-hit kill enemies
some weapons can be double-handed and then charged attack, which combined with above can OHKO enemies
but otherwise two handed heavy weapons are a meme and actually lower DPS , at least in older patches

>>716161835Default if you want to tough it out. But having played it all already, I wouldn't fault you for turning down weapon decay by 25%. >>716120687I beat it up to the preatoreum solo. It had a couple bullet spongey enemies. 2 boss fights, and the black armor dudes could be a challenge, but keep in mind this is before 1.0, were they are adding in an upgrade system for weapons, so it will probably be way easier now playing solo.
>>716138409The Zpmbie mall is perfect if you build a ladder up to the second floor. Provided you don't press any big red buttons it's a whole department store to do what ya want with with no enemies or Lyekks capable of spawning.
>>716168307Valheim has a great building system that was part of the initial appeal, but the devs have no idea how to balance their game progression besides putting a gigantic wall of damage numbers in your way and expecting you to grind 500 hours for mats to overcome that hurdle, then do it again. That's their entire gameplay loop no matter how far you get into the game.
Abiotic challenges you in different ways besides resource grinding, and it can afford to do that since they designed their world and know what resources are there to use. Sometimes it's building a thing (which you can use for your other equipment), sometimes it's getting to a particular area (with multiple ways to access said area), it's refreshingly open ended at times and you can get away with a lot if you craft stuff that isn't "required", like jump boosts and jet packs.

Them having arcade machines for all Sandswept games in Abiotic Factor is a dead giveaway as well, there are some for The Dead Linger, Detour and Unfortunate Spacemen.
>>716169402Ore is a great example of the Valheim tedium. Everything costs 10 or so processed bars and it takes so much to process one bar. From the very beginning copper is a huge endeavor, but part of the fun was mining out a whole node with the group and having everyone do their share to carry it back home with how heavy it was. But now you have to exponentially mine more for every person in the group if you want to outfit them properly. The effort to secure the ore should have been the ordeal itself, but they compound it with the ridiculous crafting requirements.
Iron is the big metal that's a pain in the ass, and the only way they could figure out how to make it "unique" from mining copper was to put it in one of the most miserable biomes in the game, a swamp that completely hinders your movement while exploring and makes hauling even more excrutiating, especially with the dangerous mobs you cant deal with UNTIL you secure and process said iron, and again, you'll need 10x as much of it for every person in your group.
As I said before, Valheim has road blocks. Abiotic has progression paths. It is a fundamental difference in design that makes all the difference to the crafting core.

>>716171246I hate barony. I tried and got repulsed by it. I can see the appeal for people but not for me
>>716171296Ah, yep it's certainly one of those love it or hate it games
>>716170662No refunds, wouldn't have the game in my library if they did offer them, they said they'll "get around to making the game someday after a couple of smaller projects, maybe, probably" and completely dropped it once they thought everyone had forgotten about it.
The game was for sure way too ambitious, they started off with their own engine, then switched to unity and to unreal after that, they had a lot of good ideas but there is a reason ideas guys with little to no technical background usually make for horrible project leads.
It was one of, if not the first steam greenlight/early access scams, quite the feat in on itself and completely understandable why they would want to distance themselves from that as much as they can, but I personally can't let the thing go.
>>716170478All of that information is rather easily available, but there has been a rather considerable amount of autism contributing towards this deep rooter skepticism and hatred towards anything these people create, and that has in turn contributed towards looking and memorizing this stuff up.
