>>716121730I would say the left has principles it just not the same principles across the movement.
Its just that the western coalition isn't actually a unified movement, its a bunch of minority groups being prodded into action by communist intellectuals promising them gibs via "all boats rise" during the hypothetical redistribution, without any agreement of what the shape of said "redistribution" will be.
In that every group has its own ideals its working towards both each vision is different.
You can start to see the dissolution of the coalition in real time if you knw where to look because "all boats rise" isn't enough to keep the black people who want Reparations, the natives who want Land Back, the trannies who want an unquestionable position in society, and the white people who just want unions and consumer protections all happy with each other.
Just recently there was a prominent left wing personality that flippted out on the whole Israel position because he thinks it alienated voters and brought the right into office with he fears will harm him as a transgender person.
Or another prominent black personality that basically said that the reason black people didn't support Sanders was because he said that he wasn't going to consider Reoperations.
Again these groups have their own beliefs and principles, they just wouldn't be working together if they didn't see the movement as a way to push their own factional agenda forward.
