Why did you pre-order this lazy asset flip to begin with? They keep cranking out the same barebones game with 100 DLC's over and over, surely you've already seen and done this shallow gameplay loop enough in the previous games.

What is wrong with feather vs no feather fags? Who really gives a shit? I think both can look cool. I'm fine with having options with games instead of all of them being exactly the same with their presentation. It's no different than other types of creatures like zombies or vampires having different attributes depending on the franchise.

Of all the things to be schizo about, the dinosaur feather conspiracy might be the most pathetic.
It has been proven that some theropods had feathers, these things become modern birds.
Obviously anybody who puts feathers on a t-rex or spinosaurus are idiots.
Anonymous
7/22/2025, 6:57:38 PM No.716150983
>>716148093
It's almost like the age of dinosaurs spanned over a hundred million years and it was a long progression line from lizard to bird with the later ones being more bird like or something.
Also T-Rex MAY have had feathers since prior versions had it and may have lost them among the way or turned into recessive ones.

With dinos it was largely on an on and off basis based on what was currently needed. Think of it like primates losing their body hair to be smoothed skin humans and then some more millions of years in the future, we regain our fur for reasons.

I love how every single dinosaur game thread gets invaded and shat up by the exact same people posting the exact same retarded slap-fighting faggotry posts over feathers.
Yes, some did have them, we have direct fossil evidence of them.
No, not all dinosaurs had them, we have direct fossil evidence of that as well.
Yes, people who insist all dinosaurs had feathers are dumbasses.
Yes, people who insist no dinosaurs has feathers are dumbasses.
Yes, people who feel personally attacked by the fact some dinosaurs had feathers and that their entire lives are utterly destroyed by this are incredibly retarded dumbasses.
Now, can we talk about the games without all of this forced manufactured outrage?

Featherfags seek to ruin dinosaurs for others, clinging to baseless theories like manmade climate change. A few scientists say they maybe had feathers, and they realize, "Hey! I can use this to be a massive contrarian about that thing that literally everyone thinks is cool!", because to them, that's cooler than the concept of a giant death lizard.

Do the world a favor; next time you meet a featherfag in real life, ask him why he wants dinosaurs to have feathers. Ask him why he REALLY wants it. Then, when you inevitably don't get a clear answer, smash his stupid, faggoty, feather-loving teeth out with whatever you can find nearby. Use the curb if you have to. They deserve it.

If this game is going to be anything like the last one only utahraptor pyroraptor (this one was in the movies with feathers) and oviraptor will have feathers all the other raptors in the game are scaled not to mention how 90% of the dinosaurs in the game are scaled because they are going for the movie look. Scientists can't even remember what they ate for breakfast. We should err on the side of caution and assume dinosaurs didn't have feathers (unless you have video tape evidence that says otherwise).

maniraptors were probably mostly feathered, as for others its hard to say. after a dinosaur loses feathering its descendents don't seem to gain it back as there are plenty of examples of small dinosaurs with little or no feathering.
both deinocheirus and therizinosaurus have no direct evidence of feathers on themselves but have evidence of smaller relatives with extensive feathers. they're also pretty big so they were probably less covered in feathers for that reason

Some ceratopsians had long quill like feathers.
But generally research suggests that tiny threadlike feathers called pictofibers may be ancestral to dinosaurs as a whole, but they were largely lost among most herbivore lineages and most large carnivore lineages.

The book and the original film were hyperfocused on accuracy or plausibility for the time period.
A giant point of the book was going over how much the then 'common knowledge' about dinosaurs, that they were slow, stupid, and lazy, fat-ass ancient lizards, was wrong. And the film sold itself on being dinosaurs in a more lifelike manner than any film had done before.

Trying to pretend that wasn't the point decades later to justify holding to an outdated aesthetic is dishonest.

tyrannosaurids is a group from the late cretaceous that includes tyrannosaurus, tarbosaurus, albertosaurus, daspletosaurus and gorgosaurus and in every case there is 0 evidence of feathering and lots of evidence of scales. i am just pointing this out to be accurate

I don't care about the feathers vs scales shitflinging, but completely abandoning your IPs style to just put in a generic accurate raptor is incredibly boring. They didn't think "What would a feathered raptor in the JP universe look like?" they just looked at conservative portrayals like pic related and copy pasted it in to please armchair paleontologists. You could dump this Utahraptor into Prehistoric Kingdom and I wouldn't even be able to tell its from JP, might as well be a modded creature.

The problem with "Realistic" dinosaurs isn't that they're part of some woke jewish conspiracy cult. It's that nerds are being so fucking autistic over it they're killing any creative freedom artists used to have. Part of the appeal of prehistoric animals is that you can portray them in hundreds of different ways since we'll never actually see them in the flesh. There is never a "Correct" way to design dinosaurs unless you're explicitly making a documentary. Jurassic Park is the last franchise where we should be seeing overly safe designs like this.

No, early ancestors of the dromaesaurs like microraptor were more bird-like and could at least glide if not fly. They re-evolved a more terrestrial life. Basically raptors were not ancestors of birds but were cousins to birds.

Like everything else, it's a theory, a best guess with the evidence we have, and as the evidence becomes more detailed we change the theories to accommodate the new discoveries. A reminder that back in the 1800s we thought Iguanodon was a thick fat rhinoceros-looking lizard until we found an entire graveyard of them with many intact skeletons that showed they were very different from modern animals.

>velociraptor is going to be like jurassic park. they just use more modern takes on non-movie dinosaurs in that game. tylosaurus is a normal looking mosasaur but mosasaurus is the jurassic world huge whale sized thing as another example
I know that, I'm not talking about modern designs replacing iconic designs. I just think it's pitifully boring that people are afraid to do anything unique with up-to-date designs, so all those designs end up looking the same across different media. Obviously there's design elements you have to include in a "Realistic" design, like the presence of feathers, but nothing says you can't apply those feathers in a unique way like with creative usages of colors or crests. The same shit happens with unrealistic designs too, where somebody thinks "I'm gonna design a scaly raptor" and they just end up rehashing the JP Velociraptor.

We can theorize that the larger theropods and obviously other families of dinosaur didn't have feathers. Whales and elephants aren't endlessly covered in thick patches of fur. The larger an animal is, the more detrimental it is to have feathers or fur covering their body, especially when environmental conditions don't support it. No Trex is going to be covered like a chicken in a tropical environment so humid and hot it makes the Amazon feel like a fridge.

The fuck are you carrying on about, the Evolution games have added both scientifically-accurate dinosaurs AND dinosaurs that are more based on the films. Look at Liopleurodon and Carcharacontosaurus, they're heavily stylized while animals like Utahraptor and Deinocheirus are more realistic. It's a nice balance and something that does not warrant forced seething fury over.
