this is conjecture but i think a lot of people just dont think its possible to change the way you look for the better, and they think it either comes natural or doesn't. sure they may be familiar with the concept of working out, losing weight, grooming yourself, styling your hair etc. but they can't imagine themselves doing those things so they give up before they even try, because again they think it all must come natural or not at all. that or they are just retarded and did it all wrong.
if you talk to one of these people about losing weight and grooming themselves, they tend to have a prepared list of excuses why they can't do those things. you can read some of that stuff here on 4channel sometimes. there are those copypastas here that says you're either born a gigachad or a fat retard ugly fuck (therefore its ok to stay comfy and accept your life as a fat retard ugly fuck)
