The way I figured it out was to alternate tapping the left mouse button to aim and the right mouse button to shoot, if you're really quick and get off like 4-5 headshots you can stun him before he kills you. Even then it's down to luck, my guess is that the game was balanced around controller where the particle instantly snaps to the guy whenever you aim

It's a great game, in a great 7/10 game kind of way. Fun gameplay, easy going, over-the-top hong kong action movie if it was a game. It's quite short and sweet, I like it. It's available on gog. It's like max payne but instead of the game being made by depressed finn obsessed with david lynch it's hong kong action made by an actual hong kong flick director (john woo). Apparently the game is actually the sequel or prequel to one of his movies but it doesn't really matter, the storytelling is short and doesnt overstay its welcome

Does it really though? Similar games from around the time(Vanquish, Uncharted etc) felt like they interrupted the action way more frequently than Max Payne 3. Maybe it's because I just replayed Vanquish but I don't get how Platinum always gets a pass for this, their games have as much cutscene time as gameplay time on a fresh playthrough

I tried replaying it again a couple years ago, having loved it and replayed it several times earlier in life, but I just couldn't fucking stomach the constant "you get to play for 30 seconds to 2 minutes before having to watch cutscenes." Uninstalled before making it to the helicopter-sniper scene, it was that fucking boring and unfun to have the control constantly ripped from me just as things were picking up.

Honestly my main gripe with it was the movement. It's what I've gotten into the habit of calling Rockstar movement because Rockstar does it in all their fucking games now. You can never just hit S and simply turn around or hit A or D to simply move left or right. No, your character has to do a fucking half circle turn before turning around or do a quarter circle to move left or right. It feels more like driving a car than controlling a character on foot. It's fucking annoying

Max Payne 3 has some of the best gunplay ever put into an FPS, there were no problems there. The main problem it had was long unskippable cutscenes.

I liked how in Max Payne 1+2 you had to be careful when going through doors or entering new rooms because there'd usually be someone waiting to ambush you.
In Max Payne 3 99% of doors lead to a cutscene that ends with an auto slow mo shooting sequence.
