its just bants, if you read the actual script junpei gives as much as he takes, but the english version gave yukari an extremely bitchy voice and junpei a really pathetic goofy guy voice (instead of the very generic japanese teenager voices of the OG) and accordingly rewrote their lines to be more mean/more self depreciating.

yukari and junpei spend most weekends hanging out together alone, its clear they're friends but its ok when localizers completely fuck up a games writing when its a game you played when you were 12 instead of in your 20s
