>>716169843 (OP)>colleague just came up to me and said โarenโt you a little too old to be still loving video gamesโ. Idk why it just made me feel a little shit now I find myself subconsciously hiding while gaming around others.Because you care what other people think about you, because you think that your job is a cooperative collaboration of talented individuals working towards some kind of communal objective.
But your mistake is not understanding that this person (not everyone, just this person) is not your friend, they are actually not even your enemy; they are nothing. They may be hurting, they may be trying to hurt you to make themselves feel better, they may be trying to make you fail so they succeed, but it is irrelevant because they are human garbage. They are a so beneath you it's laughable; who goes up to someone and says that shit? Pure human garbage.
If you're still stewing about this, really take a minute to look at them carefully; notice the fucked up things about their face, their clothes, the way they walk, their speech, their glasses, their car, whatever.
There's a story in those details about all the mistakes that led them to this moment in their life.
As you learn to appraise the other person for their weaknesses, that story will become evident to you, you'll know exactly every way in which they're human garbage.
And that's what you need to understand: This person that is insulting you is themselves pathetic, likely much more so than you.
You don't need to vocalize it, you just need to think it, know it, let it shine through your eyes and from your countenance as you armor your self with contempt.
You need not hate them but rather disregard them so utterly and totally that nothing they say means anything to you at all; whether they are happy, sad, angry, upset, is irrelevant because they do not matter to you at all. They are pathetic, they are an animal and a hindrance and you
Simply.
Do.
Not.
Care.
It's that easy.
