Got told that I’m “childish” for using my steam deck during my work break. For context I’m 28 years old I’m not a hardcore gamer or anything but have always found games as a form of escape or a way to relax myself.

I was on my steam deck playingg RDR2 during my work break and a colleague just came up to me and said “aren’t you a little too old to be still loving video games”. Idk why it just made me feel a little shit now I find myself subconsciously hiding while gaming around others.

I'm 28. I play tons of games online with people of all identities and age groups. Nobody greatly younger or older tells me this. Consider what the co-worker has to gain by saying this to you, or what his motivations are. Could be he feels insecure in his own activities and doesn't accept others doing what they like without his own acceptance, for instance. Whatever it is, it is very unlikely to be anything serving in your best interest.

We're both almost 30, anon. That doesn't mean we have to succumb to being bored out of our gourds and assimilate to the most neutral, plain and inoffensive societal specimen. It means we need to enjoy life and relax more while we have the time to do it.
