Sort of. He's visibly conflicted about things when you first visit his office (and openly embarrassed about getting the King of Prosecutors trophy), but if 1-4 was about closing the book on his shady doings under von Karma's tutelage, then Lana's revelation that the Prosecutor's Office as a whole had obtained several convictions (including Joe Darke's) through manipulated evidence is what impelled him to tender his resignation at the conclusion of the Skye case. I think the two cases provide a more compelling argument for him to decide to walk away and reflect on the 'death' of Prosecutor Edgeworth than 1-4 does alone.

I like how the "Super Obvious" ones are the ones you literally see committing crimes before you reveal it in court, although Luke Atmey is sort of a weird one because you only see a pixelated silhouette, although it's still obviously him.

I overall agree with this list except for Acro who deserves to be in Moderately solely because by the time he's introduced (on the second day at that, so it's more of a given) it literally can't have been anyone else.
Putting him and Rimes in the same section doesnt' feel right since Rimes is concealed more from the player's eye(consistent with not attacking Sasha, shows up and testifies day 1. which you can't name a multi day case that has the criminal testify on day one and return) and there's a more likely suspect in his case.

TGAA1 is worse than 2 because everything in it is buildup for 2 and the first 3 cases out of 5 only have either investigation or trial. The first case gets a pass since it's the tutorial, but then 1-2 is only an investigation followed by 1-3 being only a trial. The two need to happen between each other to avoid having huge blocks of doing the same shit. 1-4 is setup for 2-2, and 1-5 literally ends on a cliffhanger. In a way, it's in the same situation as VLR, except TGAA2 didn't end up like the dumpster fire ZTD was.

I played Ace Attorney with my girlfriend recently and she wondered what became of Jake Marshall after be was canned from the police force. >TGAA2 didn't end up like the dumpster
TGAA2 is rushed to all hell, the trials are easy as shit, and gets repetitive.
People complain that DD threw out the jurist system in AJ, but around case 2-2, I was glad they did.
Also, case 2-5 is so underwhelming compared 1-5. They hold your hand so much throughout that whole case (The game literally begs you to check Karuma's hilt) and Stronghart gets beaten by an asspull.
The npcs also get way too quirky with their accents.

Not that huge of a shock. They play on if he's really guilty from the start, the ransom already being a big red flag. The shock is more "how deep does it go" with how involved he actually is with the conspiracy against De Killer and the events that led up to everything. I think it's more Gavin 4-4 tier.
>Damon Gant
I don't think most people saw his involvement in SL-9 coming. Once again Gavin 4-4 tier.
>Von Karma
I think should be at least Gavin 4-4 tier if not Gavin 4-1 tier. I don't think anyone could have guessed that he was involved before the letter, and his involvement in DL-6 spirals from a shot in the dark. The vacation hint goes by the vast majority of people's heads even after they know it's him. Benefits even more from being an early antagonist too, people aren't used to the formula yet.

Not really the same kind of mystery solving as PW games are. Its more of a visual novel that solves itself. Still really great to unravel even if the answers are a bit on the silly side. And of coarse tons of puzzles so if you don't like those then don't even bother.
Its best to play in release order as each one gets better in a lot of small QoL stuff.

What kind of puzzles? Pixel hunting, escaping a room, classical puzzles not related to the mystery?
Anonymous No.716198421

Some later games get puzzles that are somewhat related to the situation at hand but they're all really just classical short puzzles. There are many of them, pretty much most NPCs will give you one. The game has filters that block your progress if you haven't solved a certain amount and they give you hint coins throughout the game.

Mostly that. The games are just compilations of a bunch of different puzzle types and riddles, and they can be pretty hit or miss.

Kristophs locks appear when questioned about his motive and he simply says "I did because I'm a bad person", so his reasons are the big sticking point. The original theory is that he doesn't want let go of his ego, admitting that he's a fraud who got outplayed by the better lawyer. It's a huge hit that he got turned down due to a card game, and that the client was actually correct and perceptive for doing so. His breakdown also comes at the failure of his cleverly crafted plan, precisely because of Phoenix Wright's jury system. (It did technically work, Vera would have been done for if it was any other case) DD retcons the psyche locks to be like secrets so deep and mindshattering the character themselves subconsciously represses it. It gives some context to the black psychlockes in AJ without interfering too much with the original theories. This is where we get pretty far into headcannon territory, but I think the psychology is kind of interesting. The idea that Kristoph Gavin is a psychopath who studies human behavior with the same cold objectivity that he finds loopholes in the law. His narcissism runs so deep he can't admit that he got so butthurt from Zak seeing through him that he repurposed the trap meant for Klavier against Phoenix then silenced the Mishams for good measure.

When you already have enough evidence/context to point the finger at someone/exhonourate your client but you have to jump through the story hoops for a while first. I get why they can't just have you lay everything out whenever you want, but it can be a little frustrating.

Also, the whole thing with having to find the murderer before your client is found innocent. Turnabout Serenade being the worst for this, with it being obviously impossible for your client to have physically done it within like 10 minutes of the investigation.
