>>716195960Yeah, that's the problem, the game tries to have it both ways by having Kratos act as an irredeemable asshole, but always makes sure to keep a convenient excuse in its back pocket by making sure everyone is an asshole to him at all times for no reason, so you can always reason 'well, they had it coming'. That's not evilness, that's just revenge and retribution, it can even be seen as a twisted form of justice. It all comes crashing down horribly on the third game, where we have things like the murders you mentioned sharing a room with him suddenly being saddled with a surrogate daughter so the writing can go 'see? he's a good guy deep down!' and the absolutely retarded conclusion where his actions basically unleash the apocalypse on Greece but still the game attempts to try and play it as a bittersweet ending by pulling the 'kratos was hope all along!' bullshit out of its ass in the last second.
The writers were never brave enough to fully commit to Kratos being evil, and as a result he comes out as making no sense and being extremely unsympathetic and unlikable, no matter if you look at him as a bad guy or a good guy
