Vampire the Masquerade Bloodlines 2
This character model reminds of the later Fable games.
what are the realistic chances this will be good?

the original wasn't good at release, but it had the lifeline of attractive females to carry it until it got crash fixed. This 'game' has nothing but masculine dykes.
>>716191342>This 'game' has nothing but masculine dykes. You shut your filthy heathen mouth.
Interesting how people were all up in arms over the name Phyre when it was blatantly obviously a reference to something your character saw when they woke up. Apparently the game is full of really obscure Seattle references, so I won't be surprised if the poster of the band "PHYRE" is from a real group nobody has ever heard of.

>>716191234If they didn't get Mitsoda back after the first version failed, very very few
>>716191234>Years of development hell and a studio swap rightfully raise concerns about the game’s quality, but having played the most current form of Bloodlines 2, I’m both surprised and pleased to report that its rocky production cycle is more or less undetectable in the build I played. In fact, it feels so modern that you could tell someone it’s a new, standalone IP and it would be entirely believable. The Chinese Room, a studio known for its narrative skills, has also whipped up some fantastic combat.>Like the original, Bloodlines 2 is a story-driven experience, with multiple factions and key figures you can make your friends or foes. Unlike the original, though, it’s a modern, fast-paced, first-person action game, taking full advantage of Vampire: The Masquerade’s wild line-up of vampire powers. The end result is somewhere between a sequel and a spiritual successor – it has nods to the original, with narrative connections and some overlapping gameplay abilities, but the story stands alone, and the combat is snappier and modernized.>From what I’ve seen of the game so far, Bloodlines 2 certainly appears to honor consequences. Dialogue options and fashion choices affect characters’ perceptions of you. Your initial clan choice can drastically change your combat style and the way you approach encounters. And above all else, there’s the Masquerade: Phyre is essentially immortal, but if they break this one rule, they face a swift and merciless execution from their fellow Kindred. Consequences, good or bad, are the building blocks of stories, and Bloodlines 2 has consequences galore.I think it's going to be a dark horse GOTY candidate, or at least a candidate for RPG of the year.
>>716192871>Why have there been an influx of threads about this shit?Because the game is 3 months from release, the studio has bought themselves out from Sumo Digital, and because journalists are being allowed to play hours of the game and write about it. People talk about games when there's things to talk about.

I am so glad to be in your presence.">A girl calling herself Pandora stumbles into a bar in Seattle in velvet and eyeshadow knowing too much about the Kindred and yet knowing very little about life. Who is she really, who’s been feeding her information, and does she realise how close she is to death? It’s unlikely - she seems to have a bad case of main character syndrome.
>>716193397And here I thought it was because the gameplay looked like utter dogshit
>>716193352What do you think people will make fun of?
>>716193474The developers are British. That's why the Hardsuit version was like the real Seattle while this version is a fantastical, exaggerated version of Seattle.
>>716193654Mitsoda was the game's director. Everything wrong with the game was ultimately his responsibility. That's why he got thrown under the bus when shit hit the fan.
its easy. use unreal engine 5, slashslop, shootslop, add magic and skills. done
>Clothing also affects your interactions on the streets and in the story – characters will treat you differently if you’re wearing something seductive or scary, so it’s functional fashion as well. In one instance, I approached a woman on the street to seduce her into an alley, but it turns out the woman was a sex worker, and Phyre was wearing provocative enough clothing that the stranger assumed I was a competitor moving in on her turf.
>Characters in the campaign will treat you differently as well, either approving or making fun of your fashion choices based on their preferences. In general, it’s clear that you’d need to walk a fine line to stay on every character’s good side, as they can be set off if you say the wrong thing in the dialogue tree.
>Even though you control what they say in a conversation, Phyre has a clear, strong personality that makes each dialogue option feel natural, whether it’s aggressive or affectionate. It’s not just picking “the mean option” or “the nice option.” It’s usually two equally viable things for Phyre to say. It’s far from the blank slate protagonist I’m used to in a game like this – Phyre is a complete character. According to Thomas, that’s by design.
>“I think one of the touch points, one of the closest, is probably Commander Shepard,” Thomas says. “But we wanted to very much play with story and the legends of a particular character. And the stories that everybody in a city such as Seattle may have heard of this figure? Some of those could be true, and some of those could be false.” He goes on to explain that “there is a legend, this character called The Nomad, but like any legend, it’s fuzzy, and it goes in several different directions, and it’s up to the player to kind of solidify that legend.”
>>716194148>It’s true that in many conversations, Phyre’s reputation as The Nomad precedes them. They only go by Phyre in the first place because the first thing they see after waking up is a poster for a band with the same name. In the original Bloodlines, you play as a vampire right when they turn, so The Nomad’s status as an elder vampire is a new direction for the series, and this social identity is a prime example of it. The Elder status is also emphasized by her relationship to Fabien, who is much younger and enthusiastic by comparison.>“It actually took us quite a bit of time to land that,” Thomas says of Fabien’s personality. “There was always a character in Phyre’s head. The character mutated as the story changed.” Thomas goes on to explain that early versions of Fabien were too similar to Phyre, which made their relationship uninteresting. Eventually, it clicked that Fabien should be a Malkavian, a psychic clan of vampires others consider deranged, which explains why his voice was in Phyre’s head.>While early versions had him as a “jaded, Chinatown-style detective,” Thomas says the character clicked once they realized “Fabian is delighted in the world. He finds the world fascinating. He’s that one detective who had a conspiracy theory that there’s vampires and things in the world, and he was proved right.” Fabien also talks exactly like the cheesiest version of a noir detective – think Spider-Man Noir from Into the Spider-Verse – which balances Phyre’s dry, to-the-point style of conversation they picked up when they were turned 400 years ago. It adds a sense of lighthearted humor to a game that is otherwise dark and serious.
I don't care about Bloodlines 2 since it's gonna be shit, but I'm surprised Game Informer is still alive

No one, not a single fucking person wanted "Vampire The Masquerade: Bloodlines 2"
They wanted "The next Vampire Masquerade game after Bloodlines that follows in it's footsteps and takes it further/improves with modern quality".
No one wanted literally "Bloodlines 2". If anyone thought that's what people wanted they completely fucked up. We wanted a game that was it's successor. We wanted Demon's Souls > Dark Souls, not Dark Souls 2.
The fact that they then made "Bloodlines 2" have absolutely nothing in common with the original game, not engine, not tech, not setting or sensibilities, not fucking gameplay or systems or anything, just what the fuck.
This horrorshow they're making would do better if it wasn't called Bloodlines 2 and wasn't put in comparison to it.
Whoever signed off on starting this project from the outset with the literal name "Bloodlines 2" royally fucked up beyond measure.
Valve should've bought the rights and made it a Source 2 game and hired the original troika devs to work on.

>After waking up in an abandoned building, she immediately feeds on the nearest security guard and notices that her powers have waned significantly. While she still has superhuman strength, telekinesis, and the ability to glide through the air, the rest of the game is spent unlocking her other abilities. These other powers are tied to your clan, but you don’t pick that until a little later, instead spending the game’s opening becoming comfortable with the basics.
>As I learn from the game and my various conversations with Carl, Vampire: The Masquerade is a world with many proper nouns and specific terms relating to the lore of vampires (which are also known as Kindred). Thankfully, from what we’ve seen so far, The Chinese Room does a good job of gradually explaining the world to new players. For example, as Phyre searches for a way out of the building, police cars roll up, and Fabien reminds her to abide by the Masquerade – if the cops find her covered in blood, surrounded by corpses with bite marks on their necks, they’ll figure out she’s a vampire, which is the worst crime she could commit.
>After reaching the roof of the abandoned building and seeing the game’s title displayed across the backdrop of the nighttime Seattle skyline, Fabien guides Phyre to an abandoned apartment nearby and debriefs her on the state of the world. Fabien has lost his memory from recent days, but he’s been a vampire for the whole 100 years Phyre was in torpor, so he’s able to bring her up to speed on the Kindred politics of the city, how recent Young Adult media has changed how the world perceives them, and new threats to their kind. Fabien specifically mentions that guns are much more dangerous than they were 100 years ago. Phyre, new to the country, asks if there are a lot of guns in America. Fabien laughs.

>>716197724Most publishers try to hide how much games are in development hell because it's bad for PR. There are games that get rebooted multiple times and/or cancelled without ever being announced officially. Why would you want to play a mundane FPS game where you physically hold guns. What is this fixation on wanting to hold the guns? You snatch the gun off the ground with telekinesis, fire it until it's empty, and then fire it across the room to brain someone. Then you do the same with a chair or you use telekinesis to drag someone across the room towards you. Why are people so insistent on wanting to turn Bloodlines into a generic FPS game when the whole point of the game is to play as a vampire? >>716192052Even if we happen to have Ford Prefect situation, that doesn't mean that it was well-handled nor that it was desirable in the context of the game. A reference to something that no one will have knowledge of is not necessarily a good reference, to be say it nicely. Not to mention, meaning. "Phyre" for a vampire doesn't sound good however much you'll want to twist it.
We'll see when the game hit I guess.
>>716192871>How fucking delusional can you get?THAT delusional.
You're asking to people that have been /fans/ (remember what that word is an abbreviation of?) of an IP for decades and are looking for something, anything, to be enthused about in an upcoming big-release to be reasonable.
We *want* this to be good quite simply. And are willing to discuss any new tidbit of info we can get our hands on.
>>716200424day 1 DLC, please understand
I'll give them that, I'm liking the idea that the marks not so much sap just you of you powers (this could be put on the back of "just awakened from torpor anyway) as much as tie you to the territory.
But then I'm a sucker for that kind of narrative justification of game mechanics.
I never had negative expectations for something as I do for this game, just how much of a shitshow will it be? we'll probably get vampire horse armor on release, right?

>>716193197>Like the original, Bloodlines 2 is a story-driven experience, with multiple factions and key figures you can make your friends or foes. Unlike the original, though, it’s a modern, fast-paced, first-person action game, taking full advantage of Vampire: The Masquerade’s wild line-up of vampire powers. The end result is somewhere between a sequel and a spiritual successor – it has nods to the original, with narrative connections and some overlapping gameplay abilities, but the story stands alone, and the combat is snappier and modernized.Translation: we made it an action game with some light narrative RPGs elements, disregarding everything else about VTMB. A vampire dishonored. And we're proud of it.

I feel like they stole the combat wholesale from Vampyr
Which is fine cause nobody but me even knows that DONTNOD makes games other than teenage VNs

Also aren't the Banu Haqim the Assamites? The super isolationist clan that doesn't bother with Vampire Politics and tends to stay with their mortal herds?
>>716209948Half the appeal of a malk playthough is the malk commenting on things. You have a malk in your head at all times now.
>>716210982Again, Fabien is a malk. I don't understand people parroting this argument.
>>716198053Except for Doom 2016, SMT 4, and Metroid Dread all those games suck. They either are boring, poor gameplayed, or have very shit writing. Or all 3. I will concede that SMT 5 had fun battles and a lot of potential, some additional platforming and a more well written story would have done wonders, but for the most part its all a waste.
>>716214856There is no info on expansions or DLC at the moment. When preorders reopen we'll find out. The studio is concerningly downsized currently with only 55 employees, so I'm not sure on what they're gonna be able to deliver DLC-wise, but the new article does confirm two clans are coming as DLC. So that hasn't changed. I wonder how they plan to integrate these clans. There were rumours that there would be one clan added to the main game and some kind of story DLC clan, but the thing is, they've added more story content to the main game after the delay. More quests, more endings, etc. So maybe content they had earmarked for DLC got integrated into the main game. Then again, it's Paradox so who the fuck knows.
>While there are over a dozen clans in the world, you’ll only choose from six in Bloodlines 2 – four in the base game and two more coming as DLC later.
>>716216686Assamites have been taken in some intra-clan war, and a great number of the clan in talk to join the Camarilla since Revised.
It just so happened to have finally been an event in V5.
Conversely, Revised made the Gangrel leave the sect.
>>716216319You buffoon, you absolute retard, Fabien's voice in that trailer is the same as Fabien's voice in the extended "let's get yelled at by a Nos" footage. Moreover, the light-hearted personality Malk!Fab is supposed to have is totally absent from both things.
Someone give me the qrd on the new setting compared to the first. I only know the game, not the TT
>>716215672>Can't wait for the inevitable leak of the "Mitsoda-cut". It might not leak this year or next year, but that build will leak at some time either by a disgruntled ex-Hardsuit Labs employee, The Chinese Room or someone in between who've handled the build.I've been pining for the hardsuit build of the game ever since it got canned in 2020. I know Wesp5 could fix that shit in a year, tops.
>>716215225The translation is that the original game was awful mechanically and you endured it because you liked the writing.
>>716216902>Made Gangrel leave the sectOk that makes sense they were definitely more Anarch typed... And I supposed its possible to have a civil war amongst immortals suffering from "cabin fever" so to speak, but it still feels weird.
>>716215225Comparison to Dishonored is sorta on point, but a huge difference is that VTMB2 has endless talking, endless dialogue trees, and twice as many endings as Bloodlines 1. There are not that many endings in Dishonored, and there isn't that much dialogue.
>>716217107Gangrels are the doomers of the vampire race.
>>716216967>You buffoon, you absolute retard>that.escalated.quickly.jpgI'll have to understand that to your online ass, insult is punctuation (that's all the benefit of the doubt I can muster right now), but can you not answer a simple question without turning into some kind of petulant shout out?
That said, you do realize that just because they put something within video with a "not representative of final product" disclaimer doesn't mean they haven't decided to change it for the final product.
So honest question, does anyone knows when that decision was taken?

>>716219459Unlikely to be Phyre. I lean towards Fabien because he is the one who explains the world and characters to you. But for all we know this is from a conversation with another character where you ask his opinion on various NPCs. It's not clear what kind of rewrites the game has undergone in the last several months. Evidently Fabien has changed a bunch of times, but we don't know what he sounds like right now.

>>716221267Paradox are more likely to have issues with the game's content. They wouldn't allow the characters to be all cunt cunting cunty cunt like in Still Wakes the Deep. In terms of edgy content, I expect something comparable to Swansong.

From what I've seen the game is shaping up to be at least interesting and maybe even good.
Unfortunately, V5 is a terrible edition, that has almost entirely ruined the setting, so the game isn't likely to capture minds like the OG was.
