What are the most "anime" JRPGs?
I'm in the mood for the most shameless, juvenile, male gazey slop out there.

-Neptunia
-Dark Rose Valkyrie
-Omega Quintet
-Death end re;Quest
-MeiQ: Labyrinth of Death
-Demon Gaze
-Stella Glow
-Mary Skelter
-Persona 4
-Both Blue Reflection games
Yeah, I tried to mention only games I've played...I don't recommend Omega Quintet but everything else is decent/okay at least or even good.

The ones that pander the hardest are the ones that are desperate to make up for trash production values. You might be in the mood for some trash because you're horny right now, but you'll probably feel differently half an hour in when you realize you've signed up to play a shitty, repetitive game. Stop at Xenoblade 2 and go no further.

Since you mentioned some dungeon games, the Moero games are pretty good fun too and not actually as horny as people think (itโ€™s more parody).

lol, no! Persona isn't even an RPG franchise, just poorly disguised 90-hour visual novels for lonely otakus with a 10-hour watered down SMT game lazily stappled on top.
Tokyo Mirage Sessions is a million times closer to what OP wants.

I always wanted to try xbc, but the hud always seemed too cumbersome to keep track of in the heat of things (I prefer turn based over action, but will play action if it feels rewarding enough)
Is the hud something that gets easier with time, and is the combat SO attention oriented and so punishing if you're not 300% on it?

Hopefully, no, while I love 2's story (When ot acually focuses on the story and not in random filler) it is by and far the worst Xenoblade game so far, the menus and systems are extremely obtuse, the character designs (Not the clothes but the weird squirrel faces) are offputting, the structure of sidequests is attrocious, the gacha-like blade lottery system is a gigantic waste of time, and literally half of the game is filler, nothing between the prologue and arriving at Indol has any point, that's 4 entire titans that are completely pointless and really make it feel like they came up with the titans first and then made up reasons to visit them rather than have a clear outline of the story beforehand, and exploring them just feels less justifiedo overall than the pointless areas in the other games because in 1 and 3 going through places lile Satorl or Makthia is necessary to get to the end objective but in 2 the characters are actively choosing to deviate from their actual target to go to these side locations that don't actually further the main quest in any ignificant way.
Also the horrible dub.

If you want real recs you are gonna have to go to altchans like 8 chan moe, after the downtime people like me do quality posting on altchans and just shitpost here.
Otherwise I would just tell you to play persona 5 here, maybe danganronpa if you are feeling adventurous.

Combat is mmo-ish, the character auto-attacks while the arts cooldown; arts have the usual mmo effects, some are positional, some are better if used after other types of arts and so on, there's also a topple system for incapacitating enemies through art sequences and chain attacks.
Each game has some mechanics thrown on top, in 1 you have foresight which gives you visions of attacks that the enemies will use in the future and a timer to evade them or change their outcome, 2 uses an element rock-paper-scissor system to stack orbs that power-up special arts, 3 has character and art fusions known as Ouroboros and a very beefy job system and X has mechs called skells for fighting huge monsters as well as automatic commands that combo with one another called soul voices.

X is probably best played last, it doesn't have much of a narrative connection to the numbered games but there is some stuff in it that is best left until after playing the main trilogy, plus it is also the hardest one in the series so it's probably best to play it when you have at least some experience with the series.

That's because Xenoblade 3 is as close of a remake of Xenogears as Takahashi could get away with without infringing Square's copyright, the entire Xeno franchise is three attempts (So far) to tell the Perfect Works story.

By nature of being a Xeno game it includes western concepts, but X kicks it into overdrive:
>gnostic concepts (free space)
>burger fetishism a la NLA
>manifest destiny
>for a 2015 game: character customization to a degree rarely seen in JRPGs, but commonly in WRPGs
>progressive (non-derogatory) viewpoints on racism via exploring speciesism
>Sawano
But some clear reminders that this is a jap game:
>strictly JP mech design
>character tropes (tatsu potato, lin kawaii, nagi old man dick strength; nearly all recruitable characters which are one-dimensional like h.b., murderess)
>cutscene transitions into/out of boss fights

Tokyo Xanadu is pretty much high school urban fantasy anime as a game.
