I think it wasn't as good in having memorable moments like in VII and VIII. I also don't like the setting (how much do you like about Alola?) and the fashion designs. The story does not seem to be very interesting, and the romance was generic, although it might well be when it was released. I think it might also because FFT sells the idea of "religion bad" much better than this, that the latter feels bland in comparison. I would have preferred XII.

I think for me its nostalgia. I played 10 over a long period during some my most impressionable and formative years (12-13). It had a serious impact on me.

I've played every FF up to 12 before losing interest, and I'd definitely put X as one of the better ones.
It's a combination of a good story, comfy PS2 era graphics/locations, one of the more enjoyable combat systems and the atmosphere is unlike anything else in the series.

The story was solid, the setting was novel and interesting, it has a fucking great hook with Sin attacking Zanarkand, not to mention the 'time travel' red herring they use. The cast are all likeable except the mute furry. First FF with VOICE ACTING. The Sphere Grid was incredible. Arguably more post game content than any previous FF. New console and the graphics were impressive for its time.

What's not to like? It's not aged magnificently but it was cool when it came out.

I played it recently and I really liked it so its not nostalgia. Only real complaint I have for it is that the endgame optional content is awful, I just gave up after getting Tidus and Yuna's celestial weapons.

it lacks an overworld map, it doesn't have any crazy materia or junction/refinement system to fuck with, but it has so much going for it that it's just timeless.

As for 13, it's basic as fuck if you just play it simply which I would equate to the simon says, but you can optimize the christ out of it going after 5 stars. So I'd argue they have the same floor and 13 has a higher cap.

If you like X's combat system play rise of a third power to see it done in a way that isn't fucking mind numbing.

i love prep work in RPGs, but that's not the combat.
the combat is what happens during battle, and that's where X shines.

people love to replay X though, you have 2 different sphere grids, NSG challenge runs, etc. there are so many different ways you can play X. now don't get me wrong, i would not say that X has the most replayability or the most playstyles in the series. but again that's not the combat system.

not really, the 5 star requirements are low and there are no hard battles in the game.
the foundation of the paradim switching is cool and it had lots of potential but there's no challenge and no depth to take advantage of it beyond its basic gameplay.
and XIII doesn't lend itself well to challenge runs nearly as much as X.

FFX is the worst because it ruined the series forever.

Let's switch it up. What do you find so fun about X combat? I personally used haste then everyone's strongest attacks on bosses, simon says on regular fights, and quick hit endgame. Oh and quad 9 I used for some shit to avoid grinding.
