You're probably right. I haven't played it in almost 6 months so I can't remember him too well. My favorites were Cloud and Yuffie and I would only switch to other characters for very specific things.

Cloud's master-of-noneness is also starting to really show. Still, he has the most variety in his playstyle so he's easily the most fun to play. But once we have the whole gang in Part 3, he's gonna really struggle to stand out.

In remake, he was #2 at everything. #2 at staggering, #2 at magic, #2 at raw damage. But now, he's #3 at magic and that hurt his position pretty badly. And since magic is actually the best way to achieve burst damage in this game, it basically means he's no longer optimal to have around. He's too outgunned by Aerith, Yuffie and Tifa.

On paper, Part 3 won't have Aerith anymore so that SHOULD make Cloud the #2 caster again, but we also have Vincent and Cid and who knows how they'll affect the party balance.
