Context. Undertale Toriel has been divorced for centuries and barely knows Frisk, so her hooking up with Sans isn't bad. Deltarune Toriel is very recently divorced and is Kris' mother, so her hooking up with Sans is deeply uncomfortable and paints Sans as invading Kris' home.

In Undertale, Frisk barely knew Toriel and doesn't have to be her child, and Sans is nice to the kid and sees her as a friend. Asgore is a child murderer and her kids are dead, so Toriel moving on feels like a good thing for her.
In Deltarune, Toriel is Kris's mother and recently divorced. Her kids are alive so the audience wants the family to get back together, we don't know why she hates Asgore, too. Sans is also antagonistic to Kris's.
Toby is a master at making you feel different by simply changing the point of view and context.

Sans as ALWAYS been a character that takes the easy way out. Of course the fucker is willing to sneak in on a torn family and pound goat pussy but the second he or Toriel is threatened he wouldn't be seen until he literally has no choice.

I think Sans is chill but he's one of the only characters that doesn't deserve the happy ending he's given.

Sans probably knew about the church fountain and did what he did to keep Toriel from going there.

Also there's a possibility he didn't know about Toriel's battle with Frisk. He absolutely could have and really should have stepped in when it comes to his brother but supposedly he wasn't going to do anything due to his promise to Toriel.

People always say this but what gets me is the idea that you can kill literally everyone but Jerry and it wouldn't count as a genocide ending. Sans will willingly let you go if you do this. This would be fine except Sans does not know or even tries to convince you to fix everything. He just tells you to never come back.

Meaning Sans is fine with this being a "true" ending which I always found despicable no matter how fucking depressed he is.
