It’s okay.
The new music is a bit jarring at times, but I kinda appreciate that each world has its own theme. In the original the one battle theme can get a bit stale after awhile. The new aesthetic they brought in from the newer entries is fucking horrid. Wish they’d have just stuck with the original art style or at the very least not made every fucking surface reflective. The humor got sucked out of the writing too, every “joke” reads like some tame and neutered shit straight out The Simpsons. The Vivian thing is a nonissue but that’s exactly why they shouldn’t have changed it to begin with. It’s one of those things that “doesn’t matter” but at the same time it’s exactly because it doesn’t matter that they should’ve just left it as is instead of rewriting it. The only QoL improvement I can remember is the pipes in the underground and in the twilight town world or whatever it’s called. The combat is so fucking easy now it bored me to tears, I remember getting filtered by the original multiple times, but now you can just breeze straight through the Pit of a Hundred Trials like it’s nothing. The new superboss fight with that Toad wrestler dude is lame. I think there’s another superboss fight with some character in Keelhaul Key but I didn’t bother with it.
Overall it’s okay but it’s not worth $60
