i know it's much easier to get it now(i had the PAL version back then), but i dislike having to sacrifice other stuff just to reach that part as quick as possible.

That's such an odd choice because it wasn't like that for FF games. Also still even before Terra, the coffee sidequest was cut off. Maybe I have to do it as soon as I get the airship or was I really supposed to just walk back to down? You can't yellow Chocobo there because you have to go through a cave to get back unless I'm forgetting something. I just beat it yesterday, but now I'm thinking about how obviously rushed it was like this guy being literally the only plot point for a playable character and you see him for like one minute in the game. Like imagine if Dyne from FF7 but even less screen time and less development an that's just one of several characters Barret had a connection to.
FF9 is a good game I enjoyed but I'm not really going to take anyone's shit about how FF7 is overrated or it's just my nostalgia because I actually played it as a kid. The flaws are there because it needed to be out and out of the way for FF10.

Why? Actually why? The game is easy enough you can beat it without it. Stop acting like the game was designed with it in mind and you are bricked from beating the game if you do.
Shit like this was cool because it encouraged discussion, rumors, and discourse about the game. Every Final Fantasy had some weird esoteric shit in it that made second and third playthroughs even more fun. Now everyone wants you to go to youtube and get every item in the game and ruin the mystery of the world for themselves because they suffer from autism. There's a secret for the PSX: you don't have to give up ANYTHING to get Excalibur II, but you won't like how you have to do it. You have to get the clock to roll over. Shit design when you make a weapon good for only one fight because you get it right before that fight. Breath of Fire did this as well. The best sword for Ryu is literally in the room before the final boss but is actually hidden so it's very easy to miss. The only thing that makes it even worth having is that it has an insanely high crit rate. But you'll likely just be blasting the boss with dragon magic anyway so it doesn't even matter.

Like you see women and children getting murdered in Cleyra while screaming, if you fail a cointoss, and even if you succeed they get nuked anyway. FF8 had a whole war segment but you really just see some students moaning about a busted leg or something.

And all the major cities except treno get fucked too. Must be hard being a fan of the FF9 world, like I love this setting, and this game where everyone dies and everything's completely detroyed, and that's before Terra merges.

Some absolute madlad recreated the bullshit playonline site.

No
she formally challenges the guy who tries to bum rush Brahne then engages with the party as he runs away in fear knowing who she is
Basically all of her dialogue was localized wrong as well to make her seem like a sadistic battlemaiden

Not that I know of. But if you know Spanish, try it. The TL is based on the original JP text, so the main character is named YitΓ‘n and not like some soccer player.

>only get it after completing literally everything but the final boss
>it's main advantage is that it sets all your stats to lvl100
>all your stats would already be that high anyway by this time
>higher even with basic equipment
>it practically makes you weaker
>it kinda looks like shit compared to what you used till now
>weapon id is "fuck you, loser"

It's not even the item itself being missable, it's the attitude. The narrative of missables being intricately woven design decisions is absolute horseshit. I can't see how most instances of missables wouldn't make someone wonder if the developers fell asleep at the wheel, with some even being completely unintentional.

Even if you did get them you wouldn't use them. I know your kind, with x99 elixirs in the backpack by the time you're at the final boss.

Ever play Legend of Dragoon? There are 100 or so Stardust you can pick up from the environment. One is at the very beginning of the game.

I was like that before I played proper roguelikes, like DCSS. Either you use that rare, unique item now to give you an edge or you die and go back to the start of the game, losing everything in the process. Cured my hoarding tendecies.

I like when the starter weapon can be forged into the ultimate weapon.
I don't think FF does this though.

There is a "hidden" weapon in the first arc. Every chapter has secret/obtuse way of upgrading it.
Fully upgraded weapon is required to fight the ultimate evil during post game.
The Ultimate Evil is the sword so you automatically unequip the weapon when you enter the fight.
Fight is 1v1.

I don't recall having too much trouble with this. The butterflies were awful though. The area and their movements fucked with my depth perception and hitting even one red one meant you had to start over.
