The segment map itself was vastly improved as was everything from load times to menus to the general UI, quest and collectible tracking, reward ticket costs, party management from the menu, inactive party exp and so on. Chapter 13 was kind of wack story wise, but I did enjoy that new area. Al Isa weird character, his schtick was leaned on the annoying side. It's funny how they gimped you for the final boss fight with the Ares Prime, not that it was particularly difficult to begin with.

The "problem" is that they actually used shading on the face. Whereas almost every other 3D anime game, including the remaster, uses no shading. Making anime-type faces work and look good in 3D is hard, so the "solution" is to make it look 2D as possible by disabling shading. In my opinion, though, this is giving up. You can make it work, it just takes a little more effort. I respect the attempt in the original. The new look is more generic since it's taking the easy way out as so many anime games do.

Look at Elma's tits. The lighting is near-identical besides a little extra vibrancy. The shading differences on skin and hair are the real change, the clothes/gear didn't change that much besides some extra color pop. And frankly, it looks better in the remaster, because in having more of the anime aesthetic, the characters actually pop a bit now, instead of being muddied with the localized lighting where their faces just become darkened potatoes. If an expression is supposed to be seen, the devs wanted you to see it.

You had to stop and take your attention away from the game to look down at the Wii U screen and do the frontier nav stuff, there's no multitasking here outside of autorunning in a straight line through a non-hostile area.
That was one of the biggest things people made fun of the Wii U for, because the dual screen set-up was a lot more clunky on home console set-up compared to a small handheld like DS.
If you're emulating on CEMU and can have both windows active on your PC monitor in one view like a DS, that's great, but it isn't how most people played the game.
