Threat Interactive
Threat Interactive is raising $900K to fix a critical flaw in Unreal Engine 5’s anti-aliasing system. Anyone serious about cutting-edge graphics should keep an eye on this project. This team isn’t offering empty promises but is actively building a real solution to the jagged edges and performance drops that have frustrated UE5 users. Epic Games has yet to address these issues, but Threat is already making meaningful progress. This is the moment to support them before the opportunity disappears.

Unreal’s cash flow doesn’t mean they actually fix everything, especially niche problems like anti aliasing. Sometimes it takes passionate outsiders to solve issues big companies ignore. I saw Threat Interactive at the Unreal asset marketplace on the Epic Store the other day. I told him how cool it was to meet him in person, but I didn’t want to be a douche and bother him by asking him where the 900k went or anything.

He said, “Oh, like you’re doing now?”

I was taken aback, and all I could say was “Huh?” but he kept cutting me off and going “huh? huh? huh?” and ghosting his hand in front of my face. I walked away and continued with my shopping, and I heard him chuckle as I walked off. When I came to pay for my stuff up front I saw him trying to walk out the doors with like fifteen pixels in his cart without paying.

The girl at the Unreal counter was very nice about it and professional, and was like “Sir, you need to pay for those first.” At first he kept pretending to be tired and not hear her, but eventually turned back around and brought them to the counter.

When she took one of the pixels and started sampling them multiple times, he stopped her and told her to supersample them each individually “to prevent any temporal infetterence,” and then turned around and winked at me. I don’t even think that’s a word. After she sampled each pixeland put them in a game and started to say the price, he kept interrupting her by shouting DIGITAL FOUNDRY really loudly.

Calling skepticism cynicism is just a way to dodge real questions. If you want proof, they have demos and updates anyone can check out it’s not hidden. Sometimes breaking industry norms is exactly what innovation looks like, and dismissing it just because it’s different isn’t a strong argument.
