I haven't seen any games since then that even come close to going what it showcased.

Hell, I haven't seen any games that even come close to DICE Battlefront games and the last one came out in 2017!

How long did Epic spend making that demo? A week? A month? Six months? A year? For 10 minutes of "gameplay"? A game dev that tried to make a whole game at that quality would take longer to complete than Duke Nukem Forever.

its a matter of making a small demo vs making a whole game which would take ~20x the dev time and disk space
